Pokemon Bank Hands On – Gotta bank ‘em all

Pokebank (8)

As great as Pokémon X and Y is, the game does have one drawback. Namely, that it doesn’t exactly have space for several generations of Pokémon to fit inside the in-game PC. That’s where Pokémon Bank comes in, as it allows players to cloud-save their beloved monsters. And it’s worth a few bucks once a year.

So how does it work? First off, you’ll need two particular apps, the Poké-Transporter for your older games, and the titular Pokémon Bank. The Poké-Transporter can teleport your battle monsters in from Pokémon White, Black and it’s sequels. To do so, merely set up the first box on your in-game PC with the critters that you want to port over, save and fire up the transporter-app.

It’s an easy enough process, and it’ll take all your Pokémon in one go from that box, and leave the items in your X and Y backpack. Simple and efficient. From there, you can pop out your rather last-gen non-3D Pokémon game cartridge, and swap it for an X/Y version.

Fire up Pokémon Bank, and from there you can import the cloud-saved Pokémon into any open box slots in your save-game. It works, but it could have been a lot more efficient, as a full box means that you’ll have to do each Pokémon one by one, instead of just magically taking the whole gang in one go. But the important think here is that besides the clunky interface, you get what you paid for.

There is a shit-ton of space for Pokémon to be saved, and if you’re OCD determined to catch ‘em all and complete the Pokédex, then this is actually a pretty decent service. Price-wise, a half-dozen or so Dollars/Euros/Pounds ain’t bad at all when you get a whole year for your cash.

And rocking my Level 100 Deoxys in battle is more than worth it. You can download the Pokémon bank right now for free and get full access for 30 days, on the house from Nintendo.

You know what, I’m feeling generous, how about a picture of TWO spiders? Or if you would prefer, two separate pictures of a single spider.

Darryn is your Deoxys legit? (Be honest)

I’ll be straight, I picked up the gen 4 games in America a while back with a good few legendaries that let’s just say look a bit suspect (they’re fake). Going to test tonight if the Bank allows them in or not…

Also, the Transporter app is rather tedious when sending over Pokemon from gen 5 games. Especially when you have 300+ to send…

Btw you are a bit off in your description of the storage space of pokemon in game without bank.. you can store 930 pokemon on the game since you get access to 31 boxes on the cartridge, meaning you DO have enough space for all the pokemon without bank. Might want to make sure you include all the facts when you review something like this.
