It does however, include a co-operative multiplayer mode similar to that of Gears of War’ Horde or Halo’s Firefight, save for the major difference being that in Bulletstorm it isn’t about surviving, it’s about racking up enough points to clear the level. While it all starts off as fun and games, later waves can become vicious as you and your buddies are forced to work as a team more and more. Act alone and you will waste points like it’s going out of fashion, work together and you can rack up tons.

Both modes are definitely fun, but do lack the sort of addictive staying power offered by a decent versus-based multiplayer mode (and I’m not entirely sure why they couldn’t have given it co-op), but to be completely honest, everyone just runs back to their usual online shooters after two weeks anyways, so the decision to focus on the single player elements feel like they have paid off.

The %*#$!* Conclusion

I sincerely mean it when I say that you are fooling yourself if you think that Bulletstorm is just a dumb shooter with no real merits. What this game is, is a combination of great comedic writing, immaculate pacing, technical excellence, fresh gameplay and a whole bunch of very good design choices all shoved into one package, with each element playing its part without missing a beat.

Bulletstorm isn’t perfect and it’s not going to change your life forever but what it will do, is take anywhere between 7 – 15 hours of your life, and fill them with raw, unadulterated fun and if that’s not what gaming is about, then I don’t know what is.

Scoring:

Gameplay: 9.0

Bulletstorm is an absolute blast to play thanks to the mixture of great pacing, ridiculously fun set-pieces and the Skillshot system. Tons of fun from start to finish.

Design and Presentation: 9.5

Gorgeous looking with above-average level design and perfect voice acting not to mention that they know how to make a woman look really attractive, the true measure of one’s technological capabilities, you know.

Value: 8.5

The campaign alone is almost worth every cent that you pay for Bulletstorm, but it’s still not jam packed full of features and extras compared to a lot of other titles out there. Not bad but not it’s strongest point.

Overall: 9/10 [not an average]

Bulletstorm somehow manages to revive a sub-genre that was left behind by games like Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior yet still keep it immensely fun and relevant to today’s gaming standards.

Do I recommend it? Of course I do, %&^#$-face.
