I’ve been doing the cosplay thing for a few years now. You’d know this because I rarely ever shut up about it. My philosophy however, has always been for quality over quantity, resulting in basically just one costume a year that I pour all my effort into for rAge. And this year, the cosplay that was on show was a cut above from previous years.
Before I carry on, don’t murder me for that statement. There’s fantastic cosplay every year at rAge, make no mistake. But 2014 just feels like the year where the entire scene matured. What I saw, was just a collection of characters where folks had pulled out all the stops entirely. I saw a human Smaug that made me clutch my gold tight to my chest. I ran into a Joker who was the very personification of the clown prince of crime. There were League Of Legend cosplayers who looked like they had stepped out of the game.
Throughout it all, we had the very talented and awesome Jeffrey Lu from Kelga Creations snapping all the pictures for us. And by some, I mean plenty. A massive bucket of win to Jeffrey, for his eagle-eyed skills in taking some of the best photos of rAge this year. You can see it all below:
PS: If our gallery is giving you one-click headaches, we are working on it. For now, it’s best to go with the right-click view in new tab option.
For more superb photography from Kelga Creations, check out the FaceBook page as well. Hell, bookmark it as well. I quite dig it.
And the highest of fives to everyone who took part this year. I know it isn’t easy being in costume over not one, but two days this year (And three for others), but you guys rocked it. You’re making cosplay one of the main attractions of rAge, setting a high benchmark in general every year. I’m just hoping that my 2015 Deathstroke project, can match this level of talent next year.
That, and I’d dig to wear a costume that I won’t overheat in or make me grumpy when people pull on my cape.
PS: If our gallery is giving you one-click headaches, we are working on it. For now, it’s best to go with the right-click view in new tab option.

Plus I offered sweets in shining foil so that it’s like him offering gold nuggets in the movie. Also the way I moved and striked freaked people out, especially the judges, even though 2 of them know me personally for years~ XD

Nolan tried his best to keep things realistic I think. To this end he mostly succeeded. Tom Hardy played it as best he cloud.

October 17, 2014 at 15:48
I agree. Aside from sounding like Sean Connery with an apple in his throat Tom Hardy did do the role quite good. I just disliked very much how far he was from who Bane really is in the comic books. In the end he wasn’t Bane, he was a badass villian dude with Bane’s name.

Man I’d love to cosplay. But first someone needs to create a game where the protagonists wears shorts, flops, and t shirts.

Some ridiculously detailed cosplay elsewhere in the world so it’s especially cool to see these great local designs (like SHARK BAZOOKA).
Anyone know why Spiderman/Venom dual-wields pistols?
Or is it a weird Deadpool clone or WeaponX or absolutely not accurate in any way kinda thing?
Kervyn Cloete
October 17, 2014 at 23:20
It’s Venom. The latest version of the character is actually Spidey’s double amputee friend Flash Thompson, bonded with the symbiote. They have some kind of special relationship going and as “Agent Venom”, Flash is part of some military black ops division, hence the guns.
