Willem Dafoe seems too nice in Beyond: Two Souls

Dafoe? Dafuq!

Willem Dafoe is both terrifying, and terribly endearing. You’ve seen him as Jesus in The Last Temptation of Christ, a mentor as Sergeant Elias in Platoon, as the Nosferatu’s Max Schreck and the megalomaniac scientist Norman Osborne in Spider-Man. Soon, we’ll be seeing him in Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls.

He’ll be lending his likeness and voice to the game – via the magic of full body motion capture. He’ll be giving us a digital performance as a government scientist, Nathan Dawkins, working to understand the strange interlinked supernatural powers at the heart of the game.

Given Dafoe’s penchant for portraying characters of an unhinged disposition, he’s probably not going to be nice to Ellen Page’s character Jodie for too long.

See it all in action here, with a behind the scenes look afterwards. The game will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 3 this October. I’m pretty excited. I don’t care that Quantic Dreams’ games are little more than very pretty QTE-lead interactive story; they’re amazing, gripping experiences.

As a side note, why wasn’t there ever a Boondock Saints FPS? It could’ve been a co-op like Army of Two, or even a GTA style game…

Yeah, I regard this to be a serious oversight. Why don’t you make like a tree and f-f-f-f…

Wow, this “game” looks like it’s going to have an interesting story, can’t wait – the graphics seem a bit dated though – not much of an improvement since Heavy Rain…

When it was first shown, it looked amazing – but the longer and longer we’ve had to wait, the less and less impressive it’s becoming.
