Warhawk slammed by PSM Getting There
   August 21st, 2007 clock image 9:33 am

PSM

I don’t know if we should be impressed that the official PlayStation magazine seems to be independent or horrified that the PSM slammed one of the main titles for the PS3…

Warhawk has been reviewed by the PSM and has received a rating of 6.5/10

It leads with the heading

A third-person shooter that never quite gets off the ground

Ouch,  PS3 fanboys are already pointing to the fact that the editor of PSM used to be the editor of OXM (Official Xbox Magazine). I don’t know what they are getting at? Do they honestly think he is going to shoot down PlayStation games because he used to work on the Xbox magazine team?

I think the old editor of PSM must’ve moved to Sony Defense Force :)

  • scotty777

SHIT! oh well… at least we getting a game

  • LazySAGamer

lol, nice to see you looking on the bright side there scotty :)

  • HungryHooligan

Scotty do yourself a favour (if you really like gaming), get yourself an xbox, they arn’t that expensive, atleast until sony gets going. You really missing out on alot of great games.

  • Ruslan

Its half a game actually. But I presume its better than nothing seeing 2007 is devoid of killer PS3 apps.

  • Abe

Hmmm, this seems to be in similar vein to that “Fanboi” review of bioshock.
Personally I am disappointed to see this, I have been looking forward to warhawk.
The thing that I am confused about however is that everyone else has been giving warhawk rave reviews, some even saying its good enough to be a HALO 3 beater?
So what gives? Guess we gonna have to wait a bit

  • doobiwan

To be honest, if I was a PS3 owner, I’d still buy it. It’s my type of game and there’s not much else in that space on the PS3 at the moment (or even on the 360). The review also doesn’t slam the game, they called it fun, but limited and slightly flawed.

I think it’s probably a fair indication of where reviews should be, not the insane, over the top 95+ games seem to average these days which makes standing out so much harder.

From the sounds of things, Bioshock should really be about a 90, Forza 2 a 70 and Gears an 80.

    Points reviews are flawed.

  • HungryHooligan

Gears 80? Noway son. Sorry there aint better! ever

  • Ruslan

Err… how can you ever compare Warhawk with Halo 3 puzzles me. They aint even the same type of games.

What surprises me is that its in fact a PS3 website that gives it such an average review. If I am keen on buying a X360 game I would read neutral or X360 related websites for reviews and thus far no PC/X360 gaming website has slapped Bioshock around.

As for ratings, IMO Bioshock 90 ( best single player shooter ), Forza 80, GoW 80 ( +10 if they allow me to download the Annex pack ), Shadowrun 80 ( best online shooter period ).
