The local Battlefield 3 PlayStation 3 team competing in the World Nations Tournament 2013 has beaten the Ukraine and made it through to the next round of the tournament.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that whole “South Africa isn’t on the same level as international teams” thing has been proven wrong by now. Our local teams have shown great dedication and improvement and demonstrated just how awesome they can be. One of those teams is the local team who entered the Battlefield 3 World Nations Tournament on PlayStation 3 at the very last minute and since then practiced and worked their butts off to be better than teams that have been playing together for much longer. This team’s line-up was put together after entering, with players from various clans including: xXLeGioNXx, LEGENDARY, SHaDoW__GAMiNG, GO FRAG YOURSELF, SYZYGY, NiNE iNCH NiNJAS, and Veni Vidi Vici.
So far they’ve beaten the French, last year’s champs and won the match against Team Switzerland after they were exposed as cheaters, and also took the game against the Ukraine this past weekend. This means that out of the five games played in the first round of the tournament, they’ve won 3 and ended second in their group, right under the United Kingdom. They’ve been promoted along with the other top 15 teams in the tournament to the next round and will face off against Italy in their first game this week. This is a single elimination round, and critical to win if they want to be in the top eight.
