PS3 Price-cut Rumours Circulating Again

While the expected announcement of a lower price of Sony’s 7th generation home console failed to materialise at their E3 conference, hope rears it’s head in yet another analyst-driven price cut rumour.

According to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, his sources indicate an August price reduction, timed to coincide with this year’s iteration of EA Sports’ Madden – a franchise known for driving console and software sales. Whilst the call for lower console prices is strong from gamers and publishers alike, an august price cut seems unlikely.

Truth be told, the PS3 – despite current economic woes – is a high value proposition, considering it’s included Blu-Ray and Wi-fi capabilities. Also considering it’s the only place you’ll be able to play Uncharted 2 and god of War II makes the bitter price a little easier to swallow.

While I possess neither a crystal ball nor an analytical mind, I excel at conjecture and expect the price to drop only when the rumoured PS3 slim makes its debut.
