Beyond

The latest interactive movie game from David Cage\s Quantic Dream, Beyond: Two Souls is out this week, exploring the relationship between a young lady and some sort of paranormal spirit or soul that’s bound to her. Like Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit before it, it’s a story driven experience, a movie wrapped up as a game. Here’s us playing one of the game’s early levels, The Experiment.

The interesting thing here is that we played this level not using a controller, but the “Beyond Touch” app that you can find on iOS and Android stores, that allows you to connect a phone or tablet to your PS3 with an ad-hoc wifi connection, and use it to control the game using touch and gestures. It connects magically, and works really well; far more responsive than I’d have imagined.

Take a look:

If you loved Heavy Rain, you’ll be in for a similar experience with Beyond: Two souls – but if you thought it was a load of pretentious twaddle without any actual gameplay to make it interesting, you’ll probably find Beyond to be a very similar experience.

It seems like it has a good storyline, but I definitely wouldn’t play it with a phone.

My favourite Willem Dafoe movie is Boondock Saints, so much lulz there!

Played the demo. You’ll feel at home if you ever played Heavy Rain. But it is more fast paced though. Cant wait to get this 😀

Heavy Rain was AWESOME! Cannot wait to get this! Going to be just as amazing, QuanticDreams really know how to make a game.
