I’ve got to hand it to Polyphony. The current marketing strategy for Gran Turismo 5, wherein players first got a taste of the game with a glorified demo, then moved on to a full game, which was then fixed further with several new patches and annual update editions, has been a genius move in making cash. Of course, you can only milk a game for so long, furthering the need for a sequel. Just don’t ask GT producer Kazunori Yamauchi when to expect a sixth game in the series.
Speaking to Japanese website 4gamer at the GT5 Asia Championship 2012, Yamauchi had the following to say about the next game and giving players a concrete release date:
If I carelessly say when [the next Grand Turismo] will be released, you’ll end up with people saying things like ‘it’s been delayed again!?’ so I will no longer say at this type of event.
Not too surprising is it, considering how GT5 cost $80 million and took more than five years to finally be released. And seeing as how the next Playstation console will only be released in a few years time, its safe to say that Sony would like to keep that racing game as a launch title for the next generation of gaming.

Sound. AI. That’s all that’s left. This is even after GT6 released, they still haven’t got it completely right.
