A group of new Gran Turismo 6 screens have been released showcasing some incredible looking cars, interiors and tracks.
I had the pleasure of sitting in on a GT6 panel at Gamescom 2013 and it is truly something to feel the passion that Kazunori Yamauchi has for the series in general.
Pagani Huayra 2011
Ford Focus ST ’13
Fisker Karma EcoSport 2012
Cizeta V16T 1994
BMW Z8 2001
BMW 507 1957
Abarth 1500 Biposto Bertone B.A.T 1 Concept 1952
Apricot Hill Raceway
Brands Hatch
Now I’m not the biggest fan of Gran Turismo simply because it is so realistic and I don’t really enjoy that in a game, but you can only have praise for some of the intricacies that Polyphony Digital has put into the game.
Just look at those interiors.

We could actually really use a decent FF game by now.

Almost as cool as the silver Ferrari I saw outside the gym on Friday.

I’m not sure if I should feel insulted or point out I saw it outside the gym, not that I went to the gym lol

Hopefully they wont DLC the game to death like NFS Most Wanted. I swear. Every time I drive around in free roam and spot a parked car that looks cool and the damn Purchase from Store notification pops up I feel like I can crash my car into a bridge. I don’t care I love it.

I’m guessing you mean the 2nd one?
The 1st one is one of the few driving games I’ve enjoyed.

Agreed, the first one was awesome. The decals and the rims and colours you could paint a car. Plus the cheesy acting that actually gave the game a soul. The second is like Wynona Ryder from the fourth alien movie. Pretty to look at but cold and lifeless to the touch.

Not to mention the insta-crash scene every time you graze an ant trying to flag down a taxi…. honestly between that and the forced downloading of DLC I was never going to buy, I uninstalled and hid the box away…. Last time I touch an NFS game

I know. But it does help to install a reinforced chassis on your car. Problem is you lose speed.

Can’t argue that. Guess I was hoping for more of an original Most Wanted experience

Agreed, I miss adding decals, rims, window tint, etc.

Kaz has done some pay for DLC for GT5, however, more importantly they’ve also had a ton of freebies, as well as providing free (rather large) patches to the engine that had significant improvements in performance (loading times, for example).

GT has never had a problem with graphic integrity and the developers are some of the most passionate in the industry. I just hope they change that horrible menu interface from GT5 as it was a pain in the ass to navigate.

I don’t mind the UI. The loading times bugs the shit out of me. Both the UI and loading times has been focus points for GT6 luckily.

Forza just employed a minimalist approach to their menu’s and as a result I found myself spending more time on the track in Forza 3 & 4 than GT5. I still played GT5 extensively as I have done since the very first release but I have changed preference over the years.
Also when talking loading times, nothing bugged me as much as waiting for friggin TLOU on it’s first load every time, esp coming off a PC Skyrim binge when you don’t even have time to read the loading screens.

On a ps3? You gotta be kidding??
It looks absolutely gorgeous 🙂
Looks like I need to go get me a decent steering wheel again. Le sigh.

Man, those are some pretty pics… Definite car-porn! I just hope GT have fixed the 1 thing that hasn’t changed since GT1 – the AI. Loved GT5 for it’s graphics, handling, etc. But the AI just made me wanna throw something at my TV… They still simply do not recognise any lifeforms on track… Can get slightly frustrating!
That’s what I love about the Forza series – the AI in that game is amazing! They recognise and react to you just like real-life drivers would. So some might let you go through and others might like to exchange a bit of paint and bodywork first… Makes for a much more real feeling race!

True. I look at the single player as a learning school of online though.

How will the performance of the game be affected now that polyphony is already squeezing so much out of the PS3?

This is a BIG concern to me too. With the demo (GT Academy 2013) while using the cockpit view, the frame rate would drop.

Yeah, GT5 in 3D also has framerate issues so I just went back to 2D play.

Maybe they’ll have fixed those issues with the final release.

I’ll let you know, I’m currently doing a complete teardown and cleaning of my launch 60g. Had to be done. It was just getting too warm. When I put The Last of Us in, after the console having been off for a few days, it went from normal idle fan to the absolute max fan RPM before I even got to the menu screen.
Definitely a cooling problem lol. So yeah, went and got some canned air, isopropylene alcohol, cotton swabs/Qtips and a shitload of thermal paste, have a precision tool set and gonna have to bite the bullet and clean it. Hopefully, I don’t break it in the process. But, there are a number of youtube videos on it, and I got as far as removing the optical drive the other day. So, we’ll see.
Excited though, in the very least, I’ll get rid of all the dust buildup (I’ve never opened it up and cleaned it before), and put some very good thermal paste on all the processors. Should help the ol’ girl stay cool for many years to come.

I’ve been reading the same. The demo was a good test for feedback from the community though. How was your framerate in the cockpit of the cars?

Haven’t tried it yet with the PS3 fully cleaned. Going to test it when I get done.

Personally i think it’s a waste of time and money doing all those classic cars. Just my opinion.

September 2, 2013 at 22:08
HEATHEN! Classic cars are awesome. Forza 4 was made even better for all the classics in automotive history that were featured. Anyway, I respect your right to having an opinion and hope you change the view for fear of petrolheads coming to kill you 😛

what i want to see is what they done a bit of in gt5,which was use all different types of car all over the game. in every other car game you nearly always start with something slow and easy eg ford fiesta then after say 50 races you got a ‘race’ or ‘supercar’ and you then use these for good.i want them to still have races later on that you can use the start cars in, as it is good to go back to the slower car sometimes
