So you have been waiting for Gran Turismo 5 for so long that you landed up putting way too much money aside for it by now, right?

Well I have a great way for you to blow all of that hard earned cash, and it comes in the shape of the just announced Gran Turismo 5 Signature Edition. Now as well all know and expect, the Signature Edition is going to come bundled with a lot of extra goodies for you to caress, use and put on your gaming shelf.

Let’s take a look to see what comes packed in this sweet but pricey bundle.

First of all, as you can see from the pics, this thing is as all about being super stylish. Here’s what you get in the box:

  • Metal sculpted box finished in SLS AMG Obsidian Black
  • Exclusive GT branded SLS AMG 1:43 model car
  • GT leather wallet containing Signature Edition competition entry card
  • Branded USB key with Polyphony/Mercedes-Benz trailer
  • GT branded metal key fob
  • Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the beautiful cars and locations of Gran Turismo 5
  • 200 page Apex drivers magazine with hints on driving technique, car tuning, future technologies and more

If you think that’s cool, you will also be quite happy to know that all of this comes on top of all of the five extra collectors edition cars from the “ChromeLine” special edition as well 6 beefed-up “Stealth” cars. Not enough? Ok, let’s also throw in an exclusive dynamic theme.

Alright wait… so you thought it was cool and then I told you it only got better. Well, now I’m going to tell you that it gets even better, and I am talking better on a ridiculous level.

While I am not sure which regions will be supported (full competition details will be posted up on gran-turismo.com very soon), you have to hear this. By competing in both an in-game and real world set of driving challenges, you could be the winner of… yes, a brand-spanking-new actual Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar, no friggin’ kidding. That is, as long as you are over 18 and have a full drivers license.

Ok, so not onto the question that you are all probably asking… how much is it going to cost?

The short answer is… a lot. The long answer is that it’s been priced at €179.99, and at the time of writing that means that we are looking at anywhere from R1700.00 and up. Ouchies. Despite the price, it is quite an impressive bundle and one that I may be looking to get my hands on when it becomes available.

Here’s the line up of countries that the Signature Edition will be available in, but be warned as the stock is going to be very limited.

UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

The normal Collector’s Edition will be priced at €79.99 or around R800 – R1000 once it’s on the shelves, but we will need to wait until local pricing is announced to be sure. For more information you can hit the link to the official announcement below.

What are the chances that the SLS AMG competition is limited to certain regions?

Not to sound sceptical and I don’t want to stereotype, but I have had many experiences (particularly with online games) where I was unable to reap certain reward because I’m from SA (a, somehow, disqualified region)

To be honest… and if I remember correctly… the SLS part is definitely only linked to certain regions, I think its regions with the GT academy schools or something
