Resistance3

While the Mass Effect 2 surprise has eclipsed most other announcements it wasn’t like the Sony press conference was a total bore. We have scoured the net to try and find all the trailers for the big hitting titles that were announced and they are all now viewable in one place..

The Resistance 3 one is incredibly creepy and really well done and it seems to confirm a New York setting.

Resistance 3

Killzone 3

Infamous 2

LittleBigPlanet 2

Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One

Good job Gavin thanks for the vids!!!

I wonder if Sony have anything left to announce next year. This is the list of exclusives so far for 2011:

    – inFAMOUS
    – Resistance 3
    – Heroes on the Move
    – Journey
    – Ninokuni
    – Yakuza 4
    – The Last Guardian
    – Ratchet all 4 one
    – Killzone 3
    – Sorcery
    – Socom
    – Uncharted 3

I wont add Mass Effect , FFXIII versus and Dead Space Extraction to that list but you never know FFXII versus might stay exclusive, Mass Effect might have exclusive content. Also Extraction HD on PS3 > Extraction SD on Wii.

Nintendo and MS have big work to do to beat that lineup. Thats whats great about good competition. We know they will try and we can only benefit. You have to wonder though aside from Starhawk and Uncharted 3 do Sony have anything left to announce next year?

Supposedly there is 1 more big announcement coming – http://www.videogameszone.de/Uncharted-3-PS3-233760/News/Sony-enthuellt-neues-Spiel-ist-es-Uncharted-3-oder-Resistance-3-768380/ Some think it may be Uncharted 3 but I doubt it – someone could’ve mistaken it for Resistance 3.

We still have TGS and I’m really hoping for Demon’s Souls 2 (with Move support).

If there is a Demon’s Souls 2, and i hope to God there is because frankly if it werent for Batman and Uncharted it would have been my GOTY last year, it will be announced at TGS. The director though seemed very dismissive about a sequel in an interview with Edge. The only other unaanounced game is Horizon from Quantic Dream but we dont even know if thats exclusive like their last game Heavy Rain or multi plat now.

There must be something coming from Sony Japan though because nothing has come from the smaller studios like the Siren studio in ages. TGS should be interesting. Capcom need to step up because they sure as hell have been disappointing as of late. DR2 looks like more of the same. Give us Resi, Dante and Okami 2 HD.

If I was still an xbot, I’d be pretty upset right about now, so what are the exclusives left on the xbox? Forza, Gears of War 3, Fable 3, Halo Reach?

Of those only Gears of War really interests me…

That doesn’t help either, and would have enraged me even further. None of the Kinect games seem worthy of a launch-day purchase. Kinectimals? Really? The only one that peaked my interest (for the briefest of moments) was Dance Central, but the more I look at the videos, the less fun it looks. It’s more like Guitar Hero for wannabe dancers.

And how many people still play their Wiis? Wii game sales have hardly been stellar for a while now.

How does that help you, me, Bobby and Core gamers? Just because Kinect might be a success like Wii it doesnt tmean its going to benefit us. You should be praying with the rest of us that Kinect doesnt reach mainstream success like the Wii otherwise core exclusives will suffer even more on 360.

My family uses the Wii more than any other gaming device… it may not be a stellar hardcore machine but it’s great for small kids

I dread the day that the strides the gaming industry has made to provide adult-orientated gaming is snuffed out because some suit deems it more profitable to dumb-down gaming for granny and my 5-year old nephews.

Have you noticed that very few serious gaming sites even discuss the Wii or its games? The Wii is popular amongst the hoi poloi but it’s practically inconsequential to core gamers.

Give credit where its due though at least it knows its has a problem and announced some killer exclusives like Metroid, Goldeneye, ,Epic Mickey, Dragon Quest X, The Last Story, Xenoblades, Conduit 2 and Zelda. The point is and Bobby is right it is a problem and Nintendo are trying to change that image. So why arent MS learning from Nintendo’s mistakes? They have 15 games launching for Kinect and 2 to 3 Core games for the next 10 to 12 months. Dont get me wrong i know casual games are always going to outnumber core games but MS core lineup looks pretty bland after Halo and Fable.

I don’t disagree with that, my nephews love the wii, and if I ever have kids myself it would be the perfect console for them, but it still remains a fairly inconsequential console. For instance, would you brag about your Wii on a gaming site?

Hey guys, I owned on Mario World!!

Of course not. The Wii is the Opel Corza or Volkswagen Golf of the gaming world. It’s popular, it’s good at what it does, but if you have a sportscar (i.e. the xbox 360 or the PS3) that’s the one you care for.

Goldeneye rocked my socks off on the Nintendo 64, and Zelda windwalker (in my humble opinion) was the greatest game to ever feature on the ill-fated Gamecube. I spent hours sale around on my little boat.

Do yourself a favour and go watch Trailer for The Last Story. It looks like the most interesting JRPG ive seen in a long long time. From Sakaguchi the father of Final Fantasy and the man who made admittedly the very disppointing Lost Odyseey on 360. It really looks incredible though.

From a business perspective, casualization of games makes sense, because not only are you hopefully attracting more business, but since your games will be shorter, smaller or ideally less complicated (for the consumer and for the developing team); the development costs will be much less (than say a AAA title) and your projected profits may be potentially higher.

The only problem with casualization is the rise in shovelware(as seen on the Wii). Nintendo is trying to curb this and as AC!D mentioned, attempting to rectify the perception that the Wii is a gaming dustbin, but this is exactly the route Microsuck is taking with Kinect. Kinect is their attempt to attract the casual market, but the problem with hipster culture or any casual gamer (be it granny and her bingo team), is that gaming is a mere fad and not a hobby for them and therefore in the long run, your market is not sustainable (as we’re seeing with the Wii, their software sales have plateaued over the last few years), unless you manage to transform a Casual gamer in to a core gamer. Casual games are good way to introduce folks to gaming, but then you also need to have games that would peak their interest and hopefully get them hooked on the experience.

The added problem is, that if you start annoying your core gamers by casualizing even AAA titles (like for instance with how Bioware is slowly raping the memory of Baldur’s Gate through console-friendly Dragon Age and its sequel), core gamers eventually start to revolt, and you lose your fanbase.

*For the record I enjoyed Dragon Age, it was fun, but it’s hardly Baldur’s Gate, and the Dragon Age sequel is looking more generic each day… Mass Effect with swords.. yum! Yawn.. :pinch:

best gamecomm in years i know i trashed it earlier but the amount of actual game footage from sony this year is unprecedented. Usually sony gives us trailers and we have to defend em for months untill the actual gameplay hits. i have no doubt that sony will be a gaming tour de force in 2011, with the last guardian, killzone 3, uncharted 3, FF13 versus maybe. I honestly think that ms is pulling back outta consoles and focusing on pc gaming market. Think about most of Ms developers and heritage comes from there anyways its cheaper for them as well as they all the power, i knew that ms approcach to gaming is unsustainable, they dont have enough momentum, everything depends on kinect!, it will take 2 years to come up with a viable killer ip, maybe 3 because of sony’s pressure, but look at alan wake, crack down and splinter cell!

alan wake has sold poorly for its investment 600 000 is not good for 5 years, im assuming their target must have been about 2.5 million like uncharted 2′ target

crackdown 2 will sell well as its a slow burner maybe 2 million or more but that wont bring in new xbox customers,

Splinter cell is at 2million including pc sales and that is not so hot, a game like that could of really used multiplatform support, but im sure ms paid ubisoft

anyways long story short sony understands the gaming industry where ms does not, it is only because of ms, reserves that they can continue dominating the market, coz at the moment evr1 just expects money thrown at them for dlc or whatever, where sony gets it for free with extra content, im sorry but this fact will catch with the xbox!

    sorry for the rant

Tell me about it. Everyone already sounds like Nolan North in every game i play so we really dont need everyone looking like Drake too.

Very hnourable mention to GT5 in that list of games. The game may have taken long but damn Yamauchi doesnt stuff around….Revealing a track editor, 3D Photos, real time weather changes that have you needing to change your tactics mid race. The list just goes on and on. I think thats it for GT on PS3. Theres so much content there and no one will suroass those visuals this gen. Just load the game up with chunks of DLC every few months and ill be happy.
