Two gaming console generations in, and to be honest, I haven’t played a decent Final Fantasy since the days of yon PlayStation 2. Final Fantasy X was the name of that last great RPG from that specific franchise, and it’s getting tooled up for PlayStation 3. With a super duper extra edition of course.
But there’s a catch of course. You’ll need to do some importing to get the Collector’s Edition for the HD reworked versions of Final Fantasy X and X-2. Available exclusively now and forever on the Square Enix Online Store, the special edition packs a proper size art book, five lithographs of the main characters and a Blu-Ray of the Final Fantasy X HD Remaster soundtrack which clocks in at over six hours of music.
It’ll cost you $79.99 for the CE, or just over R800 and it probably doesn’t ship to South Africa anyway, which means that I just got your hopes for nothing. As recompense, here’s a ton of screenshots that probably won’t do anything to dampen that blazing urge to kill me right now:
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is out next year March on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. In many ways, Final Fantasy X was a breakthrough in several areas for the franchise. Improved technology, a fun Sphere system which could be used to improve character stats and full-on voice acting made this game about a kid with daddy issues stuck in a new world something to watch and play.
The sequel? More fan service than anything else, but still a pretty awright game actually.

The soundtrack alone is worth the asking price…FF X has some amazing music and it’s also getting remastered. That is a bloody good CE…and I want. Badly, I want it. gaming gods, give me this CE..Please…listen to my story……..

FF-X was the last decent hoorah for the series. Not sure if some people quit or got fired but they just seem to have lost the plot. Played everything but the online versions and to be honest I am not happy. Now we have a situation where people would rather play the older versions than the newer ones and instead of a FF sequel we have one of the most anticipated RPG games coming from South Park.

Its true unfortunately, the second FF8 hit Steam my wallet was open, brought a tear to my eye as soon as the Balamb Garden music started.

That was the last time that I pre-ordered a game let alone the limited edition.
For a game that revolves around its art, the fan book was utter shit.
Alan Wake’s special pack will always be king.

In retrospect FFX isn’t as shitty as I remember it being but the voice acting was atrocious almost ruined a very interesting story about a boy that doesn’t really exist. The sequel based around dresspheres, was a horrid experience.

I don’t blame the voice actors because a lot of them only read what lines they were given, and some lines had to be sped up to fit the lip sync ingame because they didn’t do a side-by-side with the translations they had. That, and it was the first time Squeenix put voices in, let alone dubbed, a Final Fantasy game.

Yeah because the voice acting was so much better FXII, plus I read Square used mostly stage actors for XII to negate some of the issues from X.
