Final Fantasy XIII is the biggest Playstation game to become multi-platform and as such there is a lot of interest about whether or not the Xbox 360 version will match or better it graphically.
The PS3 version was released late last year in Japan and the Xbox 360 version has now just been completed. The first website out the gates with a comparison is Nowgamer who are handing the victory to the PS3.
According to them you can see the differences in
- The characters clothes being less defined on the Xbox
- Incidental environment objects are less details on the Xbox
- The CG is far superior on the PS3
They did state up front that this is purely a subjective view and no technical wizardry has been performed but it does sound pretty convincing.
When either LensOfTruth or Eurogamer puts up a comparison we will bring you the final conclusion but at this time it looks like an easy PS3 win.

if it’s negative PS3 news we are fanboys, if it’s not positive enough PS3 news we are fanboys.
Honestly a real fanboy site would have ignored this story on the basis that it has no evidence to back it up…

Well I wouldn’t say NEVER. But I don’t think it will be significantly poorer – It’s just a sensationalist title which always works well.
But one thing we already know is that the CG audio and video is compressed on the xbox version. The actual in-game is the only thing that is in dispute.

The past suggests that it’s incredibly unlikely. Then again, it depends on what your definition of significantly poorer is. One developer would easily just drop the ball. Causing it to happen.
The fact is that MS gave the devs better tools. So getting a PS3 game to surpass an XBOX game is definitely doable, but requires more time. Hence my gross generalisation.

Yeah. But supposedly the PS3 version was worked on for longer – but I don’t that. And anyway it’s a multiplatform engine so they basically are worked on at the same time.

Well the PS wouldnt be the lead console for the development of Rising. Or atleast we dont know what console will be the lead console yet.

As somebody who stopped caring about the so called console war a long time ago I do still find it ironic that on the rare occasion that an X-box version of a multiplat is considered superior – its “lazy-assed developers” but when a PS3 version has the edge its “the power of the cell”.
