Skylanders Trap Team

Darryn’s already given us his first impressions of Skylanders Trap Force and next week we will have some more interviews and details to share with you but for now I have this incredible reveal trailer to show you.

It seems like Activision have taken queues from their compatriots at Blizzard when it comes to making trailers. Instead of giving us either the gameplay or random CGI effects they have decided to weave a story that showcases the games new mechanics, story line and new abilities.

So who picked up the brilliance of what Activision are doing here?

Now instead of only being able to buy 60 new Skylanders, at around R100 each, you are also going to be able to buy 40 custom traps to enslave the bad guys in the game. Including Chaos himself. Yes before your mind explodes at that thought. If you are going to buy yourself, or your kids, every single new Skylander and trap for around R100 each you are going to need to pay out R10 000.

Which explains why Skylanders is now one of the most profitable pillars of Activision and which now outsells many of the traditional action figure lines.

It’s easy to be cynical or bitter about this and claim that Activision are costing parents money but in reality no one is going to buy all 100 options and the ability to give your kids something they will really enjoy for only R100 isn’t actually a bad thing for parents.

Never mind that creating a game that can keep kids entertained for hours and weeks is something truly an accomplishment.

Skylanders Trap Team is coming out in October and will release on pretty much every platform you can think of.

I have to admit, I’ve never really caught onto the whole Skylanders & Infinity thing.
But will look into it to understand more about it.
