Play Angry Birds for free on your browser, say goodbye to productivity

Google, showcasing just how far it’s Chrome browser has come, has released a version of Rovio’s insanely popular and horribly addictive Angry Birds. According to Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president of Chrome, “Chrome’s graphics rendering speed is more than ten times faster than it was just a few years ago. It wouldn’t have been possible to render Angry Birds in a web browser a year ago.”

You can play it in Chrome right now after installing it from the Chrome Web Store, or if you’re afraid of installing apps or just happen to be using a browser that isn’t called Chrome, you can head on over to chrome.angrybirds.com. I’ve tried it with Firefox and it works just fine (albeit a little slower than it does in Chrome). I’ve not had the gumption to try it with Internet Explorer because..well..it’s Internet Explorer.

It’s a great way of introducing the game (which is available on just about every current platform already) to those who’ve managed to avoid it thus far. As a word of precaution, playing Angry Birds in your browser is a sure-fire way of killing your productivity and possibly getting you fired, something for which I will not be held liable. Even though I prefer Cut the Rope, I’ve found it terribly difficult to drag myself away from Angry Birds for long enough to write this post. You have been warned.
