You’d imagine with the incredible inroads that Sony has had with PlayStation Plus, that more and more gamers in the US would be embracing the Ps3 as their online console of choice. You would be wrong. According to Microsoft, citing NPD data, more gamers get their online fix on the Xbox 360 than the PS3
They say that their service attract 50% more US gamers than the competition. They don’t however, say how much of those users spend their time watching Netflix and Hulu instead of actually playing games.
“In the last 12 months, we delivered more than 20 billion hours of gaming and entertainment on Xbox, over 17% growth over the previous year,” Microsoft says. “We’re proud and humbled to be the top online gaming service – according to NPD’s August 2013 Online Gaming report, close to 50% more online console gamers use the Xbox 360 for playing online than the PlayStation 3.”
To go with that, they’ve put out a little infographic to show you why Xbox Live is still the best option for serious online gamers. Of course, none of this is surprising; the data is limited to the US, and the Xbox is the top selling console there.

And Gears of War 1, 2, 3 were not? Ni no Kuni took me close to 100 hours to platinum. Infamous 1 took me well over 30 hours, Heavy Rain was a beast as well. I’m yet to complete everything in Gran Turismo 5….

It comes as no surprise to me that Xbox 360 is tops in the USA. I don’t know if it is for the same reasons why I still have an Xbox 360 and not a PS3. I really wonder how loyal Americans are going to be to Microsoft with the Xbone. Our perception now is that the PS4 is more powerful and cheaper than the Xbone, I wouldn’t be surprised if a large chunk of the stats in this article to move to over to Sony with the PS4. Americans are flip floppers, always looking for new and better than the rest. Brand loyalty = the rest of the world with the Sony Brand, South Africa included.
Support the company that’s not going to update the console to the DRM console they wanted from the start.

How is this a surprise to anyone? The 360 led in sales for what 27 consecutive months at one point? There’s also 12 million more 360’s in the US, than PS3’s. 32 million to 20 million. Of course, Microsoft will cherry pick it’s locations (even though the 360 now trails the PS3 by 1.1 million units globally).
