Final Fantasy XIII sequel officially announced

Final Fantasy XIII was in development for years but you won’t have to wait that long for its sequel, which is imaginatively named Final Fantasy XIII-2. The direct sequel to Square Enix’s 2010 release will be out this year.

Motomu Toriyama, who directed FFXIII, will be directing XIII-2 as well. A premier trailer for the game was shown to a closed group of people at a press conference held by Square Enix. That trailer will be available for all to see on 20 January via the game’s official website, which will presumably go live on that date as well.

According to CVG, the trailer shows Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII fighting a new character with purple hair. Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

Man. I hope it’s not a corridoRPG (I totally just made that up) like XIII. Please, Square-Enix..a little variety would be nice.

Same here, I really liked exploring in FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX, I probably spent hours flying around and trying to farm gil or trying to unlock all the weapons. Square-enix have seriously disappointed me of late.

The only hope is Nomura and he’s only human, they really should not have let their founder go!

Combine Lost Odyssee with Final Fantasy 13 and you get a proper FF game!
Sakaguchi has awesome experience in making a fun world but fails with his imagery, Nomura excels in the art and look of ff, which is very modern and appeals to a more broader audience as opposed to a game like blue dragon, which is a much better game than ff 13 but visually looks very traditional and unappealing!

the story of ffxiii and its lore definitely could use expansion. Lose the 75% hand holding progression and the damn level caps and we are good to go

I am only 30 hours in and just reached Pulse … about 6 months ago. I should really finish this game.

P.S you have to poison the final boss or play 40 more hours to beat the game 😛
