Eurogamer Round 15: Xbox 360 vs PS3

Bioshock

It’s that time again, Eurogamer has posted up their results of the latest console Face Off and this time we are taking a look at some really big titles like Bioshock, Pure and Star Wars: Force Unleashed.

Before seeing what they have to say let’s get the two biggest questions or accusations out of the way. One of the most common statements is that Eurogamer are just being biased and favouring the Xbox 360, well if anyone can find a technical fault with how Eurogamer are testing then you may have a point however no one has been able to do that yet.

The next question is why do we care? Well that is more difficult to answer as the difference between the two has now become minimal and it rarely stops either side enjoying their game so it’s really just a bit petty now. But having said that I honestly feel since both companies made HD gaming a large part of their marketing campaigns it is only right that we rate them on their ability.

So click through if you want to see who takes round 15

Bioshock – Xbox 360

Apparently the framerate in the PS3 version of Bioshock falls far short of the benchmark set by the 360 over a year ago and along with a useless blur effect, worse textures and an overinflated install the PS3 version easily falls short of the original 360 version.

Dead Space – Xbox 360

The 360 squeaks it but only just, the PS3 version is nearly identical and it’s only a few framedrops that hand the game over to the 360 version. It was mentioned however that Dead Space’s introduction sequence was absolutely identical on both platforms.

Pure – Tie

It’s a tie, the way life should be really. If you are going to get Pure it doesn’t matter which platform you get it on. Well okay that is not entirely true, the 360 version has a slightly better framerate but the PS3 counters with a small install that cuts loading times.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles – Xbox 360

The PS3 version has a worse resolution and is generally graphically inferior. Simple as that, the 360 is better looking though not perfect.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows – Xbox 360

Directly from Eurogamer

“It’s a PS3 release where all the minor technical deficiencies combine to turn what is otherwise an enjoyable, competent if stupefyingly repetitive game into a release that is significantly compromised compared to its Xbox 360 sibling.”

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – Tie

Well Eurogamer is not a fan of TFU, in an entirely negative posting the best I could find is that they feel the 360 may be better thanks to higher definition textures but with all the other problems mentioned it would be wrong to give either console this one. Technical issues abound but don’t forget we reviewed this game before and highly recommend it for people just looking for some old fashioned fun.

So that’s it once again the 360 proves itself to be the better multi-platform gaming console, something which has now become accepted in the industry and what would have been a claim slammed by Sony in the run up to the PS3’s release.

Multi-plats are slightly better on the 360. But I have yet to see anything on the 360 which comes close too MGS4,Unchartered and GT5P. If you were to rate a console on it’s abilities, the PS3 wins easily.

I agree. The exclusives on the PS3 do look better in my opinion, but it doesn’t detract from the fact that the PS3 is absolutely getting its ass kicked with Multi Plats.

That’s strange, as I’ve not seen anything on the PS3 that makes me want to give up my 360 😀

Fanboys, So how do you want to compare which console is better if not using multiplatforms. You cannot compare Gears to anything on the ps3, Just as you cannot compare MGS to anything on the 360. The fact is that the 360 is the easiest to program for and the games look better 90% of the time.
Get over yourselves all the PS3 is is a better machine on paper that’s it, get over yourselves

The fact that exclusives are only a fraction of the game libraries of both consoles makes your point a bit mute. Although those games are good, peoples personal tastes also comes into play. Please don’t say people look stopid 🙄

It’s still surprising and embaressing for Sony that Bioshock still looks better on the 360.
