Assassin’s Creed 3 is 40 hours long.. if you count side quests

Ubisoft have revealed that Assassin’s Creed 3 is setup to give you 40 hours of gameplay, that is if you count the 20 hours of side quests that are embedded in the game making the main quest only 20 hours long.

Some sites are contemplating whether this isn’t really long enough for an action adventure game anymore with games like Mass Effect and Prototype 2 offering equal or greater play through times.

However my personal feeling is that measuring a games worth by how long it is is simply asking for the developers to add more grinding into the game. One of the most memorable games I’ve played this year is Spec Ops: The Line which, if I recall, clocked in under 10 hours while the other great game has been Borderlands 2 which is the grinding king and can easily take 50+ hours to truly experience.

Assassin’s Creed has always been measured on its story and addictive gameplay and for me I don’t care if it has 40 hours or 10 hours as long as it all makes sense and is a immersive experience.

Oh and for those really strange people out there, how about an hour of gameplay footage and commentary by fightingcowboy713. Note, I haven’t watched this but I can pretty much guarantee it has spoilers and possible bad language.
