I have a soft spot for Army of Two as it was the first preview we were invited to as a company and to this day it is possibly the earliest review of code that I’ve ever seen… yes I think it was all a bit of a miscommunication back then but that’s beside the point.
When the game was finally released it was, well, just not very good. It has a cult following among some people but with a Metacritic score of mid 70’s it obviously didn’t set the world on fire.
But that hasn’t stopped EA making a sequel and The Devils Cartel looks like it may be a big improvement over the first title.
The gameplay looks similar but the dynamic destruction, graphics and lack of stupid dialogue appears to be a huge improvement.
What do you think, did you love Army of Two and is this appealing?

No great secret. But when I previewed Army of Two we were a tiny site and the code I previewed still had the tampon mini game thing in it and was really glitchy. All early code is glitchy but I’ve never had a game change that much as I did with Army of Two

Video looks kinda fun, but that is just my problem with console games, it looks and feels so arcade-ish and all the same. The aiming and shooting also looks too easy. Like its dumbed down.
Take SpecOps, a brilliant game in story, gameplay is ok-ish, but it feels so linear and like the side scroller games of old.
I dunno, maybe I am just too picky/old/grumpy/vol kak
