STREET FIGHTER V BRO! With Mortal Kombat X out this week, I can finally stop waxing lyrical about that game and start annoying people senseless with non-stop coverage on another fighting game instead. But this ain’t no ordinary numbered fisticuffs sequel. When Street Fighter adds a number, you know it’s a special event. Hell, it’s the Haley’s Comet of gaming events, and a game that I’m looking forward to having my ass kicked in by Geoff once he understands the core mechanics. And that’s passion baby, through and through.
“We’ve been working on Street Fighter 4 for the past seven years now. There’s been a lot of rebalancing and so on, but the game is still going strong, even today.”said series producer Yoshinori Ono said in Edge an interview via Gamesradar.
All this means that, with Street Fighter 5, we have a fantastic opportunity to create something with a larger scope, a game that encompasses all that Street Fighter has become in the last few years, but which also expands on that to become something it has never been before as well. So now we want to create something that nobody is expecting. It’s going to be a title that caters to fans, of course, but one that also invites completely new players onto the scene.
Street Fighter 4 was about reviving a passion. Street Fighter 5 is about growing that passion.
Naturally, Street Fighter V is going to cater to the eSports scene. It’s a key factor in the success of Street Fighter 4, as that game helped create a fighting game scene and evolved it with new releases of said game and constant character tweaking. That means that feedback is going to be extremely important in the development of Street Fighter V. “What I’ve learned over the years is that it’s not always the loudest voices that you need to listen to,” Ono said.
Often these people don’t represent the masses. So it’s a case of finding key people in communities around the world, those who aren’t as visible perhaps, in order to hear their take.
Street Fighter V is out next year in the northern hemisphere spring on PC and PlayStation 4, and it boasts some snazzy crossplay as well. Sorry Xbox One gamers, no Street Fighter love for you. STREET FIGHTER V BRO!

I bet some gamers have a “growing passion” for some of the female cast.

The jiggle animation needs higher res…like in DoA 5!

I suppose if there is one critique it’d be that. It already has the jiggles, scantily clad, and handling phallic object. Not much more to ask for really.

You’re tripping, bro. SF > MK by far (when it comes to actual fighting mechanics). MK has more violence…and visceral cinematic stuff, I suppose.

I’m really looking forward to SF5, Charlie’s return may or may not be partially why.
