Hellblade coming to PC

Ninja Theory has made some stellar games, some of which include the rebooted DmC, the horribly underrated Enslaved and Heavenly Sword. They also happened to develop my favourite original Xbox game, Kung Fu Chaos. But enough obout old-generations – we’re all about the the new generation, where the PS4 just lost Ninja Theory’s new title as an exclusive.

PC Gamer has revealed that Hellblade, the brand new Ninja Theory title, will also be coming to PC along with PS4. Studio creative chief Tameem Antoniades sees this not only as a chance to reach a bigger audience, but also future-proof the hack and slash title with the aid of mods and regular updates.

I think we want to get to the point where we can invite players and fans to add to the game, and do things that are unexpected, and suggest ideas or add-ons that can make the game richer.

Antoniades also loves the fact that newer consoles are following PC architecture, but still believes they’re years behind the marketing and performance potential of the PC platform.

We’re looking at everything we do on this project and figuring out better ways of doing things compared to how the traditional AAA console model works. And consoles are following suit with PC, but I think they’re years behind what things like Steam are doing. If we want to do an open beta right now, it’s a little bit trickier to do that than on PC.

Not every publisher has let us [host a beta], because of the secrecy that goes into consoles and publisher-based businesses. As an independent we have the freedom to do that.

Hellblade was revealed at Gamescom last year with the teaser trailer below. It’s easily one of the most anticipated titles coming in 2015, and it’s great to see that more people will now have the chance to experience it. Could more exclusives come to PC purely because of testing convenience?

Even though there is merit to what he says, I just hate Tameen, and will just ignore whatever he says, like the typical new-age gamer I am. That said, I am pretty excited to see more of this game, only thing is, NT is not good at actual gameplay, their combat systems are shallow and boring, and you can’t count DmC’s combat because that was handled by Capcom. They have amazing concepts, but lack the ability to fully realize them.

I’m all for it. Personally, I’ve never gotten the whole “console exclusive to the exclusion of PC” thing… Perhaps a lot of that was the console architecture and how things needed to be programmed to accommodate it. Now that they are more ‘PC-like’, I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of them being released on PC too (as witnessed with this game, and Dead Rising 3 and Ryse previously).

It’ll be a good thing for gaming as a whole. And that is always a good thing!

Me to,its gonna start bringing pc gaming back on the map,the only problem i see that is gonna kill pc gaming again is piracy, they rather develope for the console than risk the sales loss on pc,i really hope a real non shity uncrackable DRM gets developed soon, but pigs will fly and Baffana Baffana will win a world cup before that happens.

unexpected, and suggest ideas or add-ons that can make the game richer.” Very important comment.

We living in a time where video games are created for day 1 sales. Shitty stories, not a lot of content, boring gameplay that’s just been copied, same old gaming engines, not completed, buggy as hell.

Very few games can sell well and sell well for years to come.

We need to focus on improving the PC gaming scene. DRM killed PC gaming. So we need to kill off DRM.

No. DRM killed PC gaming. Xbox 360 saw really high piracy numbers. Did that kill off Xbox 360. No.

Don’t use the lie on us. Piracy promotes the sale of video games. Those who pirate video games, tends to buy more video games than those who don’t pirate. There has been studies.

Saying that we must not support DRM is one thing, trying to convince everyone that piracy is good for the industry is something totally different. I don’t support DRM, but I sure as hell ain’t delusional enough to think that me pirating is actually helping developers.

I just mentioned what the study on piracy behavior found out. I’m not promoting that piracy is good. But if piracy leads to more sales, can piracy be used to explain the death of PC gaming.

          • Spathi

            January 9, 2015 at 10:51

I’m also not saying that piracy leads to the death of PC gaming, I’m just saying that the overall effect of piracy on developers ain’t positive, in my opinion.

            January 9, 2015 at 10:57

Yeah…what you said,if the article i read is true, might not,but is a rise of concern for me,that Mass Effect 4 might not get a PC release cause of Biowares concern of piracy, how can Ryanza say then that piracy premotes?

          • Ryanza

            January 9, 2015 at 11:08

Biowares concerning about the PC is not piracy but would be how much the game will sell with DRM on PC. Mass Effect started on console. I think PC gamers only got Mass Effect 3 first. That won’t help sales on the PC version.

We need to take DRM away from PC games and grow PC gamers. Then no company will have concerns to release games on PC.

Seeking a DRM solution for PC games to prevent pirates is not the solution. Steam, Origin, Uplay, doesn’t help every single PC user to buy video games. And if you are cutting out a large portion of the buying market, you can’t blame piracy.

          • Ghost In The Rift

            January 9, 2015 at 11:27

I know, the always online part and buggy DRM like uplay is what is causing the PC gaming issue, but they only did it because of piracy, remember if you back a dog into a corner it is going to bite, they did it cause they had no other options at the time, what i don’t get is why they are still doing it if it helps nothing and costs allot off cash, cracks are everywhere, the only thing i can see them do is if they do the same thing that blizzard does, like diablo 3,then PC gaming will be truly dead.

          • Ryanza

            January 9, 2015 at 11:36

DRM on PC is not became of piracy. It’s about creating a monopoly. Well we have 3 now.

          • Ryanza

            January 9, 2015 at 11:38

DRM before Steam = anyone with a PC could buy a video game.
DRM after Steam = half the market can’t buy PC games.

            January 9, 2015 at 11:02

If I pirate it = a lose in sales. So we have been taught.
If I don’t pirate it = sales. So we have been taught.

What does not get mentioned. I don’t pirate and I don’t buy. I pirate and I buy. Those stats never get mentioned.

The Witcher 2 saw very high piracy numbers. CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 2 with DRM and even tried to go after the pirates by trying to sue them. That was hurting their business with their fans and supporters. The fans told CD Projekt RED that and CD Projekt RED removed the DRM and stopped going after the pirates. Now The Witcher games has sold over 8 million copies and still selling, even with all those pirated copies.

What I wonder is, if piracy was completely abolished, would the price of games come down due to more sales? I very rarely pirate games these days, unless I’d like to see if it would run on my system. However I hardly ever buy Day 1 games, and wait for sales.

I’m a PC gamer, but don’t misunderstand me, I love my PS4 as much as any 90’s kid should, and I agree with this “master race” being a load of crap, since there’s a certain degree of preference involved. If however, you were to consider only tech specs, and forget about cost and preference… It’s easy to see why a PC trumps consoles. With components like the i7-5960x/Titan Z – Console exclusives are the only thing they truly have over a desktop. To paraphrase Johnny Depp… That’s what a desktop is, you know. It’s not just a mobo and a psu and harddrive; that’s what a desktop needs. Not what a desktop is. What the Black Pearl really is, is freedom.
