Uncharted trilogy

Naughty Dog has become synonymous with impressive storytelling, compelling characters and unique gameplay thanks to The Last of Us. But before their multi-award winning game, they were still beloved by those who adored their Uncharted games. Now those who missed out on some of the best gameplay to be found on PS3 can get an even better version on PS4.

I have to say this before anything else… I told you so! I knew that before the release of Uncharted 4 on the new consoles, we’d see a remaster of the trilogy. It makes sense considering how many new gamers have been lured to the PlayStation camp with the PS4. There are plenty of people who missed out on Uncharted in the last generation, who need to be brought up to speed so that they can fully appreciate Uncharted 4. Thus, this trilogy was totally predictable, even before it was rumored yesterday.

So, first up, here’s the announcement trailer:

But this isn’t just a rerelease of a trilogy people know and love. According to the PlayStation Blog:

That means not only allowing you to play the single-player campaigns of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in 1080p and 60fps with better lighting, textures, and models, but they’re also working on a range of improvements and additions across all three games.

We put together the list of these improvements and additions based on countless forum posts, messages, Tweets, and even through personal conversations we’ve had with a number of you over the years. More on these specifics in future updates.

Many fans of the franchise will wonder if it’s worth buying a spruced up version of a trilogy they already know and love. Well, it also gives access to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer beta when it becomes available. So, if you’re a die hard fan, it might be worthwhile to have an updated version of the game and access to the upcoming Beta. The remaster will be available from 7 October, giving players enough time to enjoy it before the next instalment in the franchise arrives.

I know people get really upset by all these remasters, but they make sense to me. The new game is still coming, so we can’t bemoan a lack of new development. Plenty of people miss out on games; once you move into a new generation of consoles, they might never play them. With remasters, gamers can enjoy those franchises they might have missed out on, or revisit them with prettier textures at higher resolutions. It may just be a cash grab, but it’s one that makes sense to me. I’ll probably buy this one, just like I’d buy a Mass Effect one if it ever was released.

      *Fallout. 😛

My interest is piqued by this, nowhere near as much as Fallout 4, but mayhaps that has to do that I still need to get a PS 4, someday…

Abyss was more of a Vita tech demo by Bend Studio. I dont see Naughty Dog vamping that up for the PS4. Everything needed the gyroscope and touch screen. lol that one bit in the game when you have to hold the Vita up to a bright light source to reveal the invisible ink on the map Bwahahahaha and you cant press skip. Try doing that on a plane in the middle of the night with all the cabin lights off 🙁 people thought I was nuts lol

A tech demo? So it used a few features to the VITA’s advantage. Dude its an awesome game! Yyou know as good as I do that that game is well worth any UC fan’s time.

That was my first Uncharted game being an exbot at the time. Most reviews raved at how well Bend Studio stayed on par with Naughty Dog. I loved how you could tweak the aim of the sniper rifle by tilting the Vita. All that chalk rubbing with my fat greasy fingers was my only gripe. Otherwise I am looking forward to the trilogy while the xbots play Tomb Raider.

I still remember a great set piece that I watched on Youtube of Nathan jumping onto a wheel arch of a moving C130. BRING IT 🙂

Nope, after spending thousands on a XBOX360 library I never bothered getting a PS3.

I reckon it will be the same price as TLOU was last August. R599 🙂 The idea is to get everybody vamped for U4. More fans from the XBOX360 (over 10 million PS4 owners that never owned a PS3 according to PSN stats) the more sales for U4. That was the only reason why U4 was pushed back. The remastered TLOU sales spoke loud and clear.
