Horizon zero dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn was a big surprise for everyone at E3 this year. Guerrilla Games’ open world game blew me away when I saw it behind closed doors and I can’t wait to learn more about the character, story, and that strange post-apocalyptic open world. At least with this commentary, we get a bit more information.

Senior Producer Mark Norris explains a bit more in this trailer breakdown.

I like how he explains why the studio is making something other than Killzone, and how it has informed some design decisions, particularly the color palette. The game revolves around exploring the world, going on quests and killing the machine dinosaurs. In fact, Aloy isn’t an indiscriminate killer – she feels some kind of kinship with the machines, but she does need their parts so that she can craft cool new things. She seems to be able to craft weapons as well as ammo. Plus, she will earn XP for doing all those things, making Horizon a true RPG.

One of the most exciting things Norris said? The game is a true open world without any loading times. That’s right, if you can see it, you can go there, and without loading screens or waiting times. The world looks massive and varied and I’m a little bit too excited to explore every nook and cranny. The game is only coming next year, though, so I really need to contain myself a bit. Let’s just hope 2016 delivers on all these incredible titles so that I can have a year of gleeful gaming.

This was one of my top picks of E3.

I love the concept, the game is stunning.
I now just need to start exploring the world and lore.

This is the first game of its type that I have been interested in playing for a long time.

I was seriously impressed by this from E3 this year – seemed like it came completely out of left field… And I, for one, definitely wanna know more. **queue the Starship Troopers “Do you want to know more” screen**

This was my favorite at E3 partly maybe because it was unexpected but also something new a breath of fresh air from all the sequels and Remasters.
