Now if there is one thing we’ve learned covering video games is that you should never take these canned video’s as proof of what a system will offer. Hey anyone remember the Kinect scanning in the kids skateboard?
But if this video is to be believed and this is how the PlayStation 4 UI will work then we are all in for a treat.
Things I saw which are awesome
- Digital Downloads
- Split into Single Player and Multi Player
- cross game chat
- Queue download from mobile device
- Share video
- instant game swtiching
Microsoft are offering most of these on the Xbox One but Sony has always been someway behind Microsoft when it comes to UI, have they managed to catch up or this simply PR gumph?

I like the idea of what Microsoft announced where I can play Dust while waiting for my Gears matchmaking to find the perfect match. Then giving me a countdown and swapping over

Microsoft always had the edge UI wise, especially given how optimised their OS is, but if SONY has caught up with them, that’s definitely shocking. I honestly don’t know what to say, but I think for now, I’ll say PR stunt… ;p Unless, we see the PS4s UI in action… i.e. in stores… or at home.

I absolutely loved what MS showed with background matchmaking, thats really super cool that I can, for eg, wait for a Forza lobby to be found while I’m busy playing something else, then just quick swap into it when its ready. Very cool!
I think the PS4 looks fantastic though, but what the heck was up with that whole love story between that dude and the chick. It had me all tense at the beginning of act 3, not sure if I needed to go grab a box of Kleenex for the finale!?
