Helldivers teases free update with new enemy, mission type

Helldivers is my favourite multiplayer experience of the past few months. It’s fun, hilarious and varied enough to keep you coming back for more. Currently, my usual playmates are going for Mortal Kombat or Bloodborne instead, but this latest update might just bring them back to the Helldivers family.

Here is the short teaser shown by Arrowhead Game Studios:

Beyond promising more democracy and freedom, the game shows off a bunch of cool new things. Of course I want to highlight them for you, so here are a couple screens I managed to grab off of these 40 seconds of footage.

First up, there is apparently a new mission type with this update. On the right-hand side where the objectives are listed in this image, you can see “Perform Geological Survey” as a new action. That should be fun – probably another defend type mission, but it could have some interesting added elements.

While the three main enemy times appear to stay the same, there are some new enemy types. This bug tentacle thing looks terrifyingly dangerous.

Have you picked up my favourite co-op experience yet, or are you too busy playing other things? I absolutely adore this title, but you sort of have to play with friends. Sure, you can play alone, but it’s best with friends (or even strangers). I will happily dive back into the game and see what it has in store. I’m glad this update is a free one – I don’t mind paying for added content, but those previous DLC packs did not make me too happy.

Democracy? Is that where your country gets turned into a police state & kill the homeless?

Sorry Zoe but you failed your disection of this trailer horribly!
If you looked closer and weren’t a “lazy gamer” (pun intended) you would have noticed the new weapons, stratagems, objectives (you missed one),enemies (you missed one as well), and landscapes. Not trying to be rude but you could have done a much better job.
