SUCKITCHUNLI

Despite being a life-long Street Fighter fan, I’ve been mostly ambivalent about Street Fighter V in the weeks since it was first revealed. Admittedly, my head nearly exploded when we got our very first look at it, but since then my enthusiasm has waned. Capcom’s only shown off the two stalwarts, Chun-Li and Ryu, tempering my excitement somewhat. That’s all changed.

Capcom showed off the first other character yesterday, in a new trailer revealing that Charlie Nash, a fan-favourite from the Alpha series, will be making his return to the brawler. What makes it interesting is that it’s pretty clear that Street Fighter V follows after Street Fighter II in the game’s admittedly messed up canon – but we know from Guile’s ending that his buddy Charlie is dead. It seems like there’s some dark resurrection at play because as we can see from the character trailer, Charlie now has some pretty mean teleporting abilities to go with his stitched up forehead. He’s basically like Guile, who can now also teleport all over the place. He’s going to be an absolute nightmare.

Please watch this at 60fps.

Capcom’s also announced an online beta for the fighting game for both PS4 and PC. They say a beta will be “essential” to facilitate the cross-platform play between the two systems. The beta will become available to those who pre-order the game in North America will automatically be enrolled, while Euro players will get info on a beta for their region later on.

And I hate to admit, the mere inclusion of Charlie Nash has me excited all over again. He looks to be a deep, difficult to use character, and I think I’m going to revel in learning how to use him. Street Fighter V is coming to PC and PS4. It’s being developed with Sony’s aide, so Xbox Owners are going to miss out on this one.

WHAAAA, Tekken is so far down the list, but I do agree most of those are better than MK, not that it’s a bad fighting game though, but so much better in terms of technical gameplay. Poor KI lol

I’m just not big on 3D fighting games. If I were, Tekken would be higher. 😉

Ahh, makes sense then! Well, what about EX Plus Alpha? 😛 Though it was still 2D I guess.

Yeah, it was a 2d game with a 3d engine, really. It wasn’t great (but I loved it anyway)

I love Tekken, What makes it different from MK and SF is you have to get up close and personal

Love that about Tekken, and the mechanics are really good! You feel like you’re in a brawl.

“Please watch this at 60fps.” Why? Will the game run at 60fps on the PS? Must admit I’m glad to see Nash got better after dying. What is this? MK?

Yeah, it’ll be 60fps on PS4. SF IV was 60 fps on the 360 and PS3.

I’m not aware of any “Street Fighter-like” fighting game that doesn’t need to run at constant 60 FPS (except during animations that pause the game, like ultras in SF4)…

Who would ever be excited for Chun-Li & Ryu? The one character people only select because they hope she’s not wearing undies this time, and the other is the most boring fighting character EVER.
