World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor on pre-sale

WowWoD

The fifth (and, deity of choice willing final) expansion for World of Warcraft is coming this year, and Blizzard’s seen fit to put the digital versions of the thing up for pre-order. You can pick up both the regular game and the digital deluxe edition from the Blizzard store. they’ve also revealed that the expansion will be out on or before December 20 this year. Brace yourselves.

It costs 45 Euros for the regular version, and 60 euros for the Digital Deluxe edition. With our currency in the toilet at the moment, that means about R670 for the regular edition, and nearly R900 for the digital deluxe. for those who prefer physical things, the expac will be hitting retail shelves later in the year with even more lthings, like art books and CD’s and  shame.

Interestingly, either version will allow you to boost a single character to level 90 in an instant.  Blizzard’s also revealed earlier this year  that you can now pay to level your characters to level 90 with a few clicks – at a cost of $60.

Here’s what Blizzard has to say about Warlords of Draenor:

The Iron Horde must be stopped. Garrosh Hellscream has escaped to the past and united with his father Grommash, fierce leader of Warsong clan. Together they are forging the orc clans of Draenor into a savage war machine. It falls to you to crush the Iron Horde before the Dark Portal is completed and the invasion begins. Travel to the Draenor of the past: a world of giants and monsters, a world the fearsome and legendary orc chieftains call home. Face the dangers of this untamable world and bring down the Iron Horde — before both the past and the future are lost forever.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes extra things like "a Dread Raven mount and Dread Hatchling pet to accompany you in World of Warcraft, Grommash Hellscream and Blackhand Battle.net portraits to intimidate your foes with in

I honestly have no idea what any of that means, but Blizzard also says that each of the classic races has been given a bit of an art overhaul, with new animations making the positively ancient MMO feel a little fresher.

Hopefully this brings back some allure to the franchise, but I highly doubt it. Think most people are either waiting for “Project Titan”(if it’s still alive) or moving over to other MMO’s

A lot of people that played WoW are moving away from MMO’s completely, or going the F2P route.

I sadly have to agree with you there bud. I think it was mainly because we had a Huge guild with mainly South Africans in it (With some Europeans thrown in) , which made raiding that much more awesome.
I do miss those days , but I know that I could never go back .

            March 11, 2014 at 16:23

I didn’t do much raid progression in Wrath (which is when I started on WoW)… only started with Cata through to Mists. My big issue with WoW is the price of game time… or I’d probably play a lot more than 0-2 months a year.

I have moved on from WoW (and EvE) to SWTOR then it went F2P and I moved on to Guild Wars. Then that sucked and I moved to Final Fantasy:A Realm Reborn.(With several F2P MMO’s in the middle (Terra was not bad)).After TESO comes out I will be playing that till Wildstar arrives. 😛

Lets face it. WoW has always been the yardstick for all other MMOs to follow.
None of them will EVER be as good or have the same story complexity as World of Warcraft. The Lore is what gives the game the special feel that it has. Yes I have taken a few breaks from WoW thinking oh im over this shit now, but after a year i can say I really missed playing it. People can hate wow all they like, they need to face the facts. It is the best MMORPG ever created.
And the next best MMORPG will no doubt be from the exact same company.

I can honestly disagree. SWTOR had more lore in the starter area than wow combined but that did not make it a great MMO. What WoW had was the perfect mix of both gameplay and story and a robust class system that was both unique (at the time) and refreshing. This has however changed a lot as they tried to pull in more and more “Casual” players. Every class is generic now and a Moonkin druid pretty much has the same capabilities as a Mage. Nothing is interesting anymore and only a major shift in this trend will make Project Titan (blizzards next project) even remotely okay. Many companies have tried to create something refreshing but almost all have failed. For now WoW will still be king but they are loosing players to other games. Wildstar looks like the top contender to divert subs at this point but I would in no ways call it a WoW killer.

Also by no means do I hate WoW. In fact my collectors is already pre-ordered for Warlords. I am just saying that the game will keep me occupied for 2 months max before I unsub again. At least we will have the Barrens chat.

I love playing WoW, but at R250-300 for 60 days of game time, and expansions at these prices, Blizz can shove it in the same place as Diablo 3 for PC.

Very tempted to sell my Battle.net account 😛

If you followed the Lore in Warcraft then this expansion is pretty much an awesome one. You are going to experience the whole history of the horde. How they started to build their forces to attack Azeroth.

I followed the whole story and all my favourite heroes and baddies are going to be in the expansion… going to be hard to resist this one 😉
