Ubisoft has been hacked

It appears that Ubisoft accounts were hacked at the end of last month; hackers got info including user names, email addresses and passwords.  So, time to wrack your brain to remember your Ubisoft password so that you can go change it.

In a statement on the Ubisoft website, they explain:

We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, to begin a thorough investigation with relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.

During this process, we learned that data were illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. No personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.

I’m so tired of all these accounts: EA, Battle.net, Ubisoft, Square Enix, etc.  Why do I need so many?  Can’t people work together and just use one or two – I had to create one with Square Enix, that was then permanently linked with my PlayStation ID.  So… why couldn’t they just get my PlayStation ID to begin with?  At least some sites let you login with Facebook or twitter, but I swear I don’t even know how many accounts I have at the moment.  Anyway, go change your password, if you can remember what it was to begin with – maybe you’ll need to ask the hacker for some help.

First thing I did when I got email was first check to see if it was legit. So many of these stupid things floating around.

I would be lost without my password manager. Funnily enough this made me realise that I was still using an old password there that I use somewhere else, if a pizza arrives at my house by surprise now I know what’s happened.

After this again I now refuse to buy any game that is not available on Steam. So so tired of having a different account for every game I buy. Its just ridiculous…

I know, right! 🙁 But even with AC3 etc you need a uPlay account, even if buying and playing it via Steam. Don’t you?

Lol! Yeah no, despite AC3 getting bad reviews, I’m still a massive AC fan. Including AC3. There, I said it! /fanboymode

They can do what they like with my U-Play account, hopefully I will end up being banned.

    UPLAY sucks.

It is clear that Ubisoft security sprites were to slow to catch the hackers POV element while it glided through the 3D wireframe hacking GUI.

So I reset my password. But Uplay does not recognise the new one.

A universal application in which you install Steam, Origin, Uplay etc. That application will have the highest security measures and will be developed by all the leading Anti-virus companies. I see a lot of money for them if they decide on something like that.
