It’s been the year of the Indie pretty much since the get go. From Steam releases to Kickstarter to Greenlight, the industry and community has shown Indies great love. The genre has changed forever and for the better, producing some of the year’s best games, that’s right, I’ve said it: Best! Out of all the amazing titles, the hard boiled gunplay and skull crashing close combat victory goes to…

Hotline Miami

Having sold about 130, 000 copies in the first seven weeks since its launch, this raw 1980’s flavoured in-your-face action game will take you back to that year after I was born where you assume the role of a mysterious antihero on a faceroll against the underworld.

Hotline Miami is like mashing neon lights and brutality together to create the love-child of pixel-art and tough as nails, blow- your-mind action. There’s nothing quite like katanas slicing through bizarre characters.

Honourable mentions:

  • Journey
  • Dear Esther
  • Q.U.B.E
  • Legend of Grimrock
  • Torchlight II
  • Natural Selection 2
  • Miner Wars 2081
  • Edna & Harvey:Harvey’s New Eyes
  • To The Moon
I like bacon and games, and occasionally I say something coherent about it. I'm not old or cynical, and I'm not the Dork Knight. I AM SHE-RA! Wait, what?
