My poor backlog. Every Steam Sale I pick up a bunch of mostly indie games that I’ve been dying to try, only to hardly ever get to them before the next one rolls in. Games like The Swapper and Gunpoint sit unplayed in my library, joined by constantly growing company. But enough is enough – this time Valve won’t get me. This time I won’t give into the…oh wow is that Magicka 2 on sale already!
Yes, the Steam Summer Sale is coming for your wallets and credit cards, sparing the children but leaving just as much heartbreak when its wake. It seems that the dates of the sale have been leaked a few weeks early, with IGN (from Russia!) translating a message left by Valve’s official VKontakte account (the country’s own popular social media website).
It seems that the sale will begin on June 11th, running all the way up to the 20th and concluding with the traditional 2-day encore. You can check out the full, translated post below for the finer details:
“Steam Sale starts June 11 at 20:00 Moscow time.
June 20 will begin “Sale Encore,” which will involve all the companies that participated in the Summer Sale .
The very sale ends June 22 at 20:00 Moscow time.
The events and other details so far unknown.
Also we advise to read our guidance on sales, not to spend all the money in one day.”
Personally, I’m hoping for a really good deal on Far Cry 4 – considering I still haven’t played what is widely considered the best shooter of last year. Apart from that, there’s nothing really needing purchasing, which is a way of realising that I’ve spent far too much money in the past already.
I reckon we should all partake in that handy Steam game time calculator before and after sales like these. Just for fun.

I have reached a stage where I am finding far fewer titles to purchase on Steam Sales. Only 2 games during the last sale and I am sitting on 197 titles thus far. I guess switching to GOG didn’t help either.

Yup, my first two sales was a rampage. My wallet cried for weeks. But after that I sort of caught up with all the games I missed out on. And by caught up I mean they are sitting nice and cozy in my backlog. Now it seems it’s all the same games on sale over and over again.

im in the same boat, so many of these games i just had to buy day 1, now i get to the summer sale and theres nothing left for me.
we know all the relevant new games are only going to get max 10% off, so its entirely for the games you wouldnt have bought otherwise or DLC you couldnt justify the price tag for befor.
last sale i didnt buy anything… was the same titles at the same prices from the previous sale.
