StarCraft II’s Bugs and Issues Popular
   July 28th, 2010 clock image 1:00 pm

SC2

Yesterday saw the release of one of the most anticipated games just about ever, StarCraft II. It’s been a pretty successful launch, particularly considering how unpredictable its platform is. Success!

As with all large releases though, it’s not without its flaws, bugs and issues. In inimitable Blizzard fashion though, they’re on it. they’ve also updated the recommended specifications required to run the game – which by all accounts runs pretty damned well on lesser machines.

The bugs though are quite minimal, and hardly game-breaking – a major accomplishment for PC development on this scale.

Issues found so far include trivial quips like the game’s auto-updater being falsely detected by anti-virus programs as a Trojan, and another showing black screens “being related to the use of a Quick Cam webcam.” Mac users running OS X 10.6 with Nvidia drivers will encounter difficulties, as will those who use USB headsets.

Those are the most serious issues so far, but the official US and EU forums will continue to be updated with problems  should they arise -  as well their requisite workarounds.

How is StarCraft II treating you? Have you encountered any issues?

Purchased StarCraft II last night from the Blizzard website. Sometime during the 12-hour (!!) download, the Battle.net servers went down “for maintenance” and now the whole process needs to be re-started.

Except it can’t because the Battle.net servers are still down!! C’mon Blizzard, you allow an extended server outage on the launch day of the most widely anticipate game in a decade?? Is this amateur hour??

  • RSA-Ace

Do you guys remember the bugs when the first game released. Replays would be different to the actual game… Crazy stuff! I’ll try find the video.

i think one inevitable bug that will eventually be found is that the game will not be able to keep up with Koreans if those crazy asians ever ingest red bull.

the game crashed once yeaterday (macbook pro)with unknown reason, but everything running smoothly after restarted, so far so good, need a better computer to see pretty graphics.

    That’s seriously insane…

  • Birdman

One big problem that’s been picked up is that the game’s updater doesn’t connect to Battle.net if your IE settings are setup to connect to the internet via a proxy server. The people experiencing this are screaming on the forums for Blizzard to make a mirror download of the first patch available for stand-alone download, but no word from Blizzard so far…

I bought it today… can’t play it :( Last week I upgraded my iPhone and “forgot” to disable the authenticator :( Now I’m sitting in the e-mail loop with Battle.net and can’t even get through via phone as the queue is full :( So no WoW or SC2 for me :(

  • MacSCV

I bought it off battlenet yesterday, every time I finish a mission and explore around armoury or canteen, it just freezes and quits. Happened like 10 times already

  • Mark

Just uninstalled it. It’s so buggy and awful. Blizzard have always tried to milk the stupid for their cash and I have previously played along. Not any more. Stick it where ther sun don’t shine Blizzard, I’ll save my cash for something that works.
