Yesterday saw the release of one of the most anticipated games just about ever, StarCraft II. It’s been a pretty successful launch, particularly considering how unpredictable its platform is. Success!
As with all large releases though, it’s not without its flaws, bugs and issues. In inimitable Blizzard fashion though, they’re on it. they’ve also updated the recommended specifications required to run the game – which by all accounts runs pretty damned well on lesser machines.
The bugs though are quite minimal, and hardly game-breaking – a major accomplishment for PC development on this scale.
Issues found so far include trivial quips like the game’s auto-updater being falsely detected by anti-virus programs as a Trojan, and another showing black screens “being related to the use of a Quick Cam webcam.” Mac users running OS X 10.6 with Nvidia drivers will encounter difficulties, as will those who use USB headsets.
Those are the most serious issues so far, but the official US and EU forums will continue to be updated with problems should they arise - as well their requisite workarounds.
How is StarCraft II treating you? Have you encountered any issues?
