Slow-motion speeding in Project Cars

It’s both an ox and a moron, but there’s a brand new trailer for the crowd-funded racer showing beastly speed machines racing around tracks, only in slow motion..making them look like they’re travelling at a regular speed, I suppose.

Developer Slightly Mad Studios’ Project Cars is a crowd-funded initiative, that was originally planned to hit the PC, PS3,Xbox 360 and Wii U after its announcement 3 years ago. However regular delays and the introduction of new hardware have meant that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have been shelved in favour of their newer counterparts. The game will also be getting Oculus Rift support, and Project Morpheus VR support on the PlayStation 4.

By my calculations, that means we’ll finally see the game released sometime in 2023 – though it’s currently scheduled for release this November.  It promises to be an authentic racing simulator, offering the sort of things car junkies raised on petrol fumes crave in their digital entertainment. expect a wealth of real cars and track locations, night lighting, tire deformation, dynamic weather, online multiplayer and pit-to-car radio features.

"Jump into the seat of a kart and forge a career with the aim of one day winning a prestigious 24hr race in a LM Prototype car, battle bumper-to-bumper for a third consecutive championship in the world of Touring, or simply take an exotic supercar out for a beautiful drive along the coast," the studio says of its new trailer, titled “The Ultimate Driver Journey”

Slightly Mad Studios promises that all of this is from in-game footage, and it’s rather impressive stuff.

Why are there so many car games coming out!!!! This looks very nice, but until someone’s played it and can say that the cars handle nicely then it is just another car game……

Agreed. World of Speed I won’t even bother with, but Assetto Corsa is looking like one of the better options now.

It’s one of the better sims up on the levels of Forza according to those in on the beta. Assetto Corsa is too hardcore.

AC is quite hardcore but project cars, as far as I’ve heard, sounds like a more arcade game.

      New gen, new car games.

its a limited game style, so they push it hard at the start with new tech, but then we dont see any good new ones for years.
same happened with the prev gen, ps3 came out and GT5 was there, grid also, and that was about it.

My apologies. Seeing the first screenshot was in 2011 already… See how this game fails. Games in dev for so long fails almost every single time.

3 years is a normal development cycle though? I stand to be corrected.

I doubt that a screenshot was sent on day 1. My previous manager was in the States a while back, and when he got back, he talked about Project Cars, as he helped some of the finding. So I stand corrected, but they started with it at least in 2008 already

ah ok. Guild Wars 2 took 6 years!

and guess whos still playing GW2?
            not enough people.
6 years is too long to predict gaming trends.
had it been released a year earlier, it would have been hailed as one of the greatest games of the generation.

GW2 was game of the year 2012. Fastest selling MMO to date. I wouldn’t say thats a failure.

wasnt a failure, just didnt last like youd expect an MMO to.

too long, but its a racing SIM, the genre is more forgiving than most.
so long as its better than GT6, it wil be golden.
