Priest

PriestPower: Priests start the game with Lesser Heal, but playing Shadowform will replace that power with Mind Spike. Play Shadowform again and you’ll get Mind Shatter.

Similar to the Paladin but with much less holy piety, the Priest is the Wolverine of character classes. No, he’s not hairy, ill-tempered and equipped with metal kebab-sticks but he does have one hell of a healing factor.

Able to keep his minions and corporeal form topped up constantly, the Priest has numerous spells which make inflicting lasting damage on him and his company a real pain. That skill, when applied to his various defenders, make the Priest an opponent who can excel on the field the longer a battle rages on. Lesser Heal is particularly useful for long games as a strategy move on particular units, while Holy Fire heals and damages like a McDonalds burger after a long day.

Priest minions need to be dealt with early on in a game, as cards such as Circle of Healing and Holy Nova can render all attempts to wipe them out useless once they regain HP.

Divine Spirit and Power Word: Shield are even more annoying for aggressive opponents, as those cards not only heal a minion right back up, but boost health beyond the set limit as well. And it gives a card draw bonus. With cards that allow players to pick up more whenever they heal, the Priest is one character that never plays on an empty hand when utilised properly.

Removal effects and mind control are also a major part of the Priest’s arsenal, but it’s his ability to copy other cards on the field that truly makes him a force to be reckoned with. Thoughtsteal and Mind Vision are the cards you’ll want to invest in, and the synergy options available here are too numerous to mention.

Rogue

Rogie_thumb_thumbPower: Dagger Mastery – Equip a 1/2 dagger

There’s no getting around the fact that when the Rogue enters play, someone is going to walk away with a knife in their back. Rogues may not be able to defend like the Shaman or boast superb health like the Paladin, but their versatility and speed on the field more than makes up for this.

One way that the Rogue is especially effective, is in their ability to deal quick damage and emerge unscathed. Working off of combo cards and an equipped dagger results in the Rogue working quickly to create openings to exploit. Weak spells such as Backstab and Fan of Knives, when used correctly, exploit gaps in player defenses while a buff from cards such as Eviscerate and Headcrack make the Rogue a pain in the back.

Minions such as Mana Addict and Questing Adventurer take this strategy of hit and run tactics a step further, while cards such as Assassinate and Sap will remove major threats from the field and have opponents questioning whether or not to summon strong monsters.

In fact, that’s the true secret behind the Rogue, as she can remove heavyweight threats from the board, leaving opponents wide open.

Hunter

Hunter_thumb_thumbPower: Steady Shot – Deal 2 damage to enemy hero

The Hunter is another character that focuses on board control, but to a lesser extent than other classes as he splits that between attack as well. The best way to utilise the hunter is to take advantage of his various monster cards that are unique to him that create buffs between one another that allow for a strong start.

Timber Wolf for example is a very low cost 1 mana summon that will give all your beasts on the field +1 buffs, while Tundra Rhino can be used to give all your beasts instant charge effects. Playing Starving Buzzard allows you to draw another card every time you summon, while Scavenging Hyena powers up by a factor of +2/+1 every time a beast dies which is useful when you’ve got several Taunt monsters surrounding him.

These are strength in numbers beasts however, so players are going to need to keep them protected, in order to build up a field that is powerful to end a game in one devastating turn. Hunter spell cards are also useful when it comes to revenging up some new summons, such as sending a minion on a suicide charge in the case of Snake Trap, or dealing extra damage with Misdirection thanks to a full field.

All in all, the Hunter is only as strong as the animals around him, and dealing with those summons early on is the only way to keep that character from gaining an overwhelming advantage as the game drags on.

Our backend code is giving us all kinds of grief today, so I do apologise. We’ll have it sorted it soon. Hopefully.

Sheesh… I suspected that something must have broken… It’s just fun blaming it on Darryn and was in no way meant as a serious comment 😛

No. It is playable at work. But if I copy the client across to my home PC and try launch it with the exe, it simply crashes to desktop. Trying to launch it from the launcher is impossible coz it’s grey. So there is some strange problem. The forums are full of this

Charge seems to work like haste in MtG and allows a creature to attack the turn it is played, right?

Also most of the cards on pages 2 & 3 don’t embiggen when clicked.

This game is so fucked up…… I won 2 out of 36 games.

Hope they balance it so we can meet players with same cards not superior cards vs shitty! It should be about skills not who got the best cards to play with.

Also a good way to improve your Hearthstone game is to track your wins and loses with the HS Progress Tracker.
This awesome tool improved my game a lot.
