Has South Africa been denied Titanfall? Yes. Yes it has.

Here’s some worrying news for those excited for EA’s biggest game this year. Apparently, Titanfall has been cancelled in South Africa. That, according to Mweb Gamezone, seems to be the case for digital copies of the game purchased via EA’s Origin digital distributions service.

One of their readers alerted them to their Origin Pre-order being cancelled – with the report stating that the order was binned because network tests in South Africa showed the game to perform sub-optimally.

In our own tests of the beta, the game suffered with pretty bad latency, but was still more than playable, which makes this decision pretty baffling. If true, there’s going to be a small riot, especially since it’s easily the most hyped game this year.

Ea’s confirmed the cancellation via Facebook.

After conducting recent online tests for Titanfall, we found that the performance rates in South Africa were not as high as we need to guarantee a great experience, so we have decided not to release Titanfall in South Africa at this time.

We understand this is a disappointment for local fans and will keep fans posted on any future plans regarding the release of Titanfall in South Africa

I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces. I am also the emperor of the backend

It didn’t perform well because we were joining foreign servers. Idiots!

  • dalezorz

Oh, and you can order from Origin, just dial a USA Vpn and purchase the game.

  • DrKiller

A few friends told me about the article and I made the joke that they’ve tested the game on Mweb’s “great” network… Its funny to see the Mweb name was mentioned :)

  • Werner Ackermann

So, until we get Ms Azure servers in SA, there’s no Titans Falling locally?

    • http://www.lazygamer.net Gavin Mannion

That pretty much sums it up

      • Deano

With EA being one of the biggest publishers surely they can afford to put a few local titanfall servers up, surely the cost of this would be covered by profit of titanfall sales being a huge game release.

I’m pretty upset with EA with their response regarding titanfall. no urgency just cancel it rather than fixing the problem.

I probly wont buy another local EA game until I see action, i’d rather pay a little extra and import to stop EA SA from getting a Cent of mine. And I buy alot of EA games.

  • saneman

    who publishers battlefield 4?

    • http://www.lazygamer.net Gavin Mannion

not sure if trolling… but it’s also EA

  • Sk3tz0

Thats a pity looked like a really sweet game..

  • Jonah Cash

On one hand I am laughing my ass off!!! And on the other I am not happy that we are getting shafted yet again!!! This just shows me that I was right to go back to Sony and ask Microsoft to go and screw themselves!!!

  • America the great

I can’t wait to play it!!!! 4 more days!!!

    • Deano

cant wait to import it :)

  • CraK_Raven

I say we get our pitchforks and go throw some bricks thru EA SA office windows! A strike dammit, it’s all that will work to solve this!

  • BobK81

I know this is probably pointless, but go sign the petition, maybe we get lucky

Is there any way of knowing where else this game has been denied its official release date? I’d be interested to know. I’m sure SA isn’t the only country to be left out in the cold.

    • http://www.lazygamer.net Gavin Mannion

Right now it’s only South Africa… got an article coming up soon that explains why

  • Francois Knoetze

This news angers me more than it should have. I was actually considering a better graphics card to play this. Guess I am sticking primarily to PS4, PS3 and Vita then…

  • Melasco

Good, if I can’t have it, no one else can 😛

  • GalacticLordCaptainAwesomeness

    bwaa haa haa.. Brilliant

  • MakeItLegal

worse company 3rd year straight ???

hey EA , that award is not something to strive for

but then my hat also comes off to EA , for admiting it wont be a “working” title here , takes balls and props to that

Now to MWEB and TELKOM , here is a perfect opp to jump in and sway gamers to your network , build the DATA CENTER for titan fall , playstation now , onlive , gakei or what eva , invest now and build some brownie points with the gamers of south africa !!!

  • MakeItLegal

on another note , its a shame we arent geared up for this type of thing , SA use to be the AFRICAN success storie , now nigeria has overtaken us (even tho half there work force is in windsor east and west , standing around all day for who knows what reason …xD ….

we really should me african leaders and not followers …

again ZUMA , your the poes , and your lack of foresight is what has taken us from number 1 to number 2 in 4 short years…

oh did like the house we built for u ? pitty we coulnd have built house for the poor instead … oh well 1 person is worth more than 20 00000 people

Coincidentally I cancelled my Titanfall pre-order in Origin a few days ago since I was worried about the exact same thing.

Anyone who buys a game based on network reliability is a chump. Say what you like but multi player was only ever an add on to titles for a very long time for a reason. This is all part of the reason many ex xbox gamers went ps4…. ill keep my pc for microsoft titles but im well off the bone wagon.

  • Storm

Im not bothered. Looked like shit. :)
