We’re back baby! After a week in LA, and probably a lot longer in the air, your faithful Lazygamer peons have completed the holy trip to the stapled SPERTS center area. We saw a ton, played more and got yelled at by security for having accents. And trying to steal a few next-gen consoles. Bah, they have no sense of humour over there, I tells ya.

In Other News: The Cave heads to iOS, Australian game development has been choppered in half mate, Riddick survives and The Last of Us is arty.

Here’s the news that we didn’t post today, because we had left our laptop chargers in our bags. Which were still in New York City apparently. We’re not joking.

Because he's the writer that Lazygamer deserves, but not the one it actually needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can't take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a loud-mouthed journalist, a watchful procrastinator. A dork knight.

  • Thats_how_I_Troll

I am very disappointed in this website… Got recommended by a friend and found that you either part of the clique or just keep quiet… Don’t also say that it is because of my name, because I have had some other ones and also used my FB profile at a stage… I have asked questions, commented on remarks and all that…. I am sorry to say, but this site caters for a few users and if you are not one of them, then @#@$ you and what you say… The quality of the articles on this site has also taken a downward spiral…. No sour grapes, but you either in the clique or just read, because your comments won’t be noticed…. And you cannot run a gaming site with ratings if you are biased in the ways you are!

    • Ultimo_Cleric N7

Not true, I remember when ME 3 came out and everyone was moaning about “Entitled whining kid’ gamers wanting to change the ending. Well I wanted the ending changed and I stuck to my guns, even though there were a few who disagreed. I also got flak for saying that I hate Gears of War……
Different opinions MAKE this website. if you are referring to the Xbox1 issue then I can see why you would think so. But trust me, there are PLENTY of guys here who tell it like it is, I refer to Banana Jim and Rince.
Its your choice if you dont like the website, but calling Lazygamer ‘biased’ because they are leaning towards the PS4 is silly. Kotaku, IGN and Angry Joe are doing the same thing. Not becuase they are sheep, but because what MS are doing isnt in ‘Joe Gamer’s’ best interests.
Just a thought. Use it, dont use it :-)

      • Jakster

        Angry Joe, lol.

      • Thats_how_I_Troll

Ultimo, the console thing does not bother me as much as I am a PC gamer. I do have an Xbox 360, but only play Forza and UFC on it. The wive enjoys the skylanders and lego games as well as all my nephews and nieces plays much more on it than myself. The biased thing is aimed at bad mouthing games because of previous versions without giving this version a chance… But anyway, I don’t need to defend my statements as it is made and I’ll stick to it. In lighter side; I played Call of Juarez Gunslinger over the weekend and must say it was the most fun I had with a game in a long time. I actually played it through twice and also did the arcade bits… Loved the narrating and the stories… Great concept!

        • http://www.twitter.com/WobblyOnion Exalted Overlord Geoffrey Tim

It’s a nice return of form for the series. If you played Call of Juarez, you might have been put off the entire name for life.

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Yes fair enough, but that is where people go wrong. I for instance hated Starcraft, but Love SC2. If I played SC2 with the hatred of SC1 in my heart, I would have never given myself a chance to enjoy an Premium game. I don’t say SC1 sucks, but it was the approach to how I was introduced to the game… Which in a strange way is how I perceive some people experiences on the discussions. I started Playing SC1 on a LAN with already veteran players. They took me out and never gave me a chance to experience the brilliance of the game. Hence the hatred for the game. I started playing SC2 in campaign mode which I never did with SC1… Not saying it is the same case of Call of Juarez, but people must give the developers credit where credit is due.

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

I played SC1 and SC1 BW campaigns vrot, but minimal MP. With SC2, I ONLY played the SP. Have you given SC1’s campaigns a go?

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

I have not… Do you think it would be worth it after completing SC2’s campaign?

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

By all means, story is >>>>>

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Is it still available on Steam?

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

            Lemme check…

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Thanks. Don’t have access to steam at work…

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

            Nope, not on Steam

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Didn’t think I saw it there… Know of anyone that wants to sell a second hand copy?

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

I have both, but not willing to sell.

            Check takealot/kalahari?

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

            Starcraft Gold?

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

Yebo (yebo to what you would be looking for, not as to what I have)

I still have that big ass awesome box that games used to come in….

            *sigh* I miss those

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Those were the days… Do you remember Soldier of Fortune?
Edit: or Delta Force :Black Hawk Down, think I still have its covers somewhere…

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

Played SoF to no end, also played DELTA FORCE the first until it broke

        • Ultimo_Cleric N7

Fair enough, people do tend to judge a new game quickly before they have even played it, personally everyone I know hated Bionic Commando a few years back and it got slated. I loved it :-)

    • Jakster

Yeah. Seems like the same individuals saying the same opinions everyday and then they go ahead and start mocking users who want to state otherwise. I’ve noticed most of the regulars have also left this site. The articles seems to be written in a manner to incite such behaviour.

I guess it’s a blog after all and that will drive the blog mentality as shown by the users of this “clique”.

If you can’t beat ‘em, troll ‘em mate!

      • Argentil

If you can’t contribute a valid point to a discussion, that’s unfortunate. If you can bring up a valid point, most users will take it in their stride, regardless of which side of the Sony/MS fence they’re on. I, enjoy debating both arguments, but am mostly on the Sony side of the fence. There has been too much negative Xbox news lately. I anticipate we’ll be seeing some good news soon. More countries added to a second wave of post-launch Xbox One compatible countries, for one. Some details on how Xbox One’s features work, too.

        • Jakster

Bringing up valid points over here just leads to downvotes, insults and meme’s. Maybe you just read the pro Sony comments. Anyway, too little too late. E3 has sailed along with most of the regular readers. This was coming months before the X1 debacle when CoD gamers were receiving insults in any CoD article. There’s a fine line with driving a point across and being funny at the same time and just being simply childish.

          • Argentil

Well, I’ve only been back here for the past couple weeks, so I can’t be sure how it was leading up to E3. You can only ignore the bullies/spammers. Carry on making your points, someone will read them and share your view. Not everyone will make a comment.

        • John Ambitious

Besides, there aren’t just Xbox and PS fans here. I’m a full on PC gamer, but the PS/Xbox comments have actually made me think about which one I’d buy should I ever go that route. We’re all from different walks here and that’s what’s so great about commenting here. We don’t take it personally we just agree to disagree.

    • http://www.twitter.com/WobblyOnion Exalted Overlord Geoffrey Tim

I’m really sorry you feel this way. I’ve always believed that our community is what drives us, and this sort of comment genuinely upsets me. I do understand your point about cliques, and it often does feel that way – but I think you’ll find that the more you input, the less it will come across as being cliquey.

I do take a bit of umbrage to the claims of bias – because that’s just not true. Of late, yes, we’ve had a lot of negative things to say about the Xbox One – but in truth, so has pretty much everybody. We are, however, completely platform agnostic – and you can bet we’ll be first in line to get Xbox Ones when they launch locally.

      • Thats_how_I_Troll

Hi Geoff, the thing is you cannot have a good debate about anything on this site without being made out to be a fool… I have some valid points, and not only on this profile… As you can see, I am not the only one that feels this way. This contributes to losing intelligent fans that can actually drive a debate . I have been on here for over an year. The Xbox thing does not bother me as much or even the down votes. It is the lack of intelligence on debates that drives people away. Why would you want to read the same opinions over and over. I enjoyed it maybe for a week and then it got weak. I bet you there are plenty of others that does not comment because they feel intimidated. They make valid points but then the intelligence goes out the window with the “cliques” comments and the person is intimidated to a point where they wont comment again… Yes I get that they want to be funny and yes I get that some of the comments are pretty sharp and gets me to giggle like a girl sometimes. But this demographic is not to good for this site. The guys wanted a challenge always, how about this Challenge: Make everyone feel welcome without doing it sarcastically. Drive a debate with intelligence and not by your pedantic views… You might learn something.

        • http://www.lazygamer.co Gavin Mannion

Unfortunately it’s very difficult to engage in long running intelligent discussions through the comment section because people can just jump in with garbage. However if you ever feel that you are being attacked or insulted please do flag the comment and we’ll definitely take a look.

I will leave the bias part as we are definitely not bias to anything or anyone.

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Hey Gavin, Ok I’ll scrap the bias remark, it is more the clique being biased, and not on devices but games anyhow… How can people say a game sucks if they have not even attempted to play the game… How can a person ever enjoy an actual good game going with so much hatred in there heart and the just spew a bunch of BS on the comments sections… You mention flagging a comment, how would one go about this?

          • TechniKyle

If you hover over the comment, a little upsidedown triangle will appear on the top left of the comment. The dropdown will have “flag as inappropriate”.

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

            …used it before haven’t you?
            :p

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Thanks Kyle! Never saw it to be honest… Erwin, no I have not as I did not know it was available…

          • TechniKyle

(whoops wrong side) I meant my other left!

          • Unavengedavo

Think he was referring to TechniKyle :P

    • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

Ok, two things dude, firstly, lighten up. Secondly I see that you have been commenting for about a week right? Last week was total madness with all the E3 articles, so it was hard to keep up with all the news and the comments (you might have noticed a crapload more comments than the usual)

Just comment regularly and calm down a bit and I am sure you will enjoy it here

      • John Ambitious

The great thing about being gamers is being able to argue and moan about things. This is a chilled environment, no matter how heated the conversations get. We’re essentially all on the same side.

        • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

          True dat man, true dat

          • Unavengedavo

Unless you “borrow” the ban hammer :P

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

            ;)

      • Thats_how_I_Troll

Hey Erwinnn… I have been here for over an year and it actually has gotten worse…
I use to comment not all that regularly (say about 2 comments a week, sometimes more) but it is because of statements I made in other articles.

        • TechniKyle

The fact that you know he was Erwin proves you’re a regular. I sometimes struggle to keep up with the regulars’ habit of changing their handles.

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

I’M STILL ME DAMMIT, just have to roll with the title you see :)

Admiral Chief something something (depending on the game I’m playing, except currently, as I am ONLY jamming XCOM and Banana Jim wanted me to change to GW)

          • TechniKyle

            I don’t like sausage…

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

Ok now I know you are pulling my leg

          • TechniKyle

I actually hate sausages, especially boerewors… it’s a big braai joke, considering, well, you know…

          • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

Haha, why? I mean, whats not to like about intestines filled with meat and fat and spices?

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

My change in the Handle was purely out of frustration. I was Lans last week just to prove a point to my friend… Erwin, I am not talking for myself only, but in general.

        • Admiral Chief Groot Wors

Did not know you changed your nick.

In any case, what statements did you make?

Clique, not a bad CLAN name…

        • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

I always think of WWE when I hear the word, Clique. Ah, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Diesel and Razor Ramon. The true power behind the scenes, until they overplayed their hands in the late 90s. Which left Triple H relegated to the mid card for a few years.

    • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

Give it some time, eventually folks will warm up to you, or most likely because of the volume of comments, not every comment gets a reply. I’ve written a few posts, which I thought would get a decent discussion going, only to find them relegated and forgotten. It happens. Hang in there!

PS: With a nick like Thats_how_I_Troll you’re already in my good books.

      • Thats_how_I_Troll

Awesome! I understand it, but just the fact that there are so many gamers that have technical questions and needs help find that they would rather not ask, because they might be scared to comment and get made a fool. Instead of explaining why you would not do this and do that would be a better response than “your a moron”. Rather explain to the user why you feel that way than getting on the bandwagon cause the internet said so… Remember different people have different needs and needs advice accordingly. Lets rather help each other than fight each other… I respect that different opinions fuels debates. What irks me is that the majority goes on about stuff cause they read another guy commenting another guy commenting a website that commented this and that. I would rather apply my experience and knowledge to help others than get into an Ego battle. After all, I bet there is quite library of knowledge between the people here. If I look at other sites/blogs the guys will rip on each other in good fun, but when help is needed, everybody advices if possible. The 4×4 and biking communities blogs and sites jumps to mind as a good example( I know not all of them).

        • Jim Lenoir (Banana Jim)

The best way to deal with the trolls is to ignore them, every forum has them, and they’re definitely not unique to lazygamer. For the most part, the LAGZ community will answer a technical question. Lads, like Uberutang springs to mind, even Llew has a good mind on technical aspects, and then you have specific console/game issues that people will help you with. It really just depends on how you phrase a question and the context of a discussion. That’s probably the most important thing.

But I think the key is to remember that the Lagz community is laid back. They’re not particularly serious about things, and that’s been one way we’ve never had crazy fanboy battles (skirmishes yes.. but nothing serious), even though we have a couple serious diehards.

As for the ego issue, like the trolling issue, if someone is baiting you, ignore them, and engage with the friendlier members of Lagz.

          • Thats_how_I_Troll

Thanks for the advice… I would also assist in tech questions if ever needed… I am only a teamviewer away…. lol
