I’ve been thinking, that 2014 is the year for self-improvement. While that means wanting to lynch myself whenever people start talking about carb intakes, it also means learning a new set of skills. But which skills? Harmonica virtuoso? Becoming a rodeo champ? Date an actual person? Hell if I know, but there has to be something that I can do to improve on…highly specialised perfection.

In Other News: Dead or Alive this new fighter is coming with me, Noah survives another flood, Road Redemption is explosive and HADOKEN!

Here’s the news that we didn’t post today, because I was too busy learning how to knit.

and lazygamer continues to set sexual equality back by thousands of years with its ongoing use of naked women.

way to not reinforce to the stereotype that gamers are just awkward nerds who think women should be objectified and that girl gamers are a curiosity that should be singled out for their mere existence.

What does a avatar with balls on his chin say? You could send them a mail and raise the issue I’m sure they will take it to heart. the ION header is sort of a tradition now a days, it’s the end of the day kinda thing. Plus it’s not always ladies.

That’s like saying “It’s okay, I’m not a deplorable human EVERY day, just some days!”. A terrible justification for blatant sexism.

Gaming is one industry where it’s still rife and things like this don’t help. Sure, there are the female readers who endure it and say it’s fine, but ultimately they’re just fitting in with the boys’ club. And those who’re disgusted have resigned themselves to the fact that it is just a male site that won’t have the time for those who want to air their grievances.

At the end of the day, it’s unnecessary for Lazygamer to use the oh-so-80s “sex sells” approach when it is very clearly a decent media outlet that doesn’t need to resort to cheap trash like this.

By the way, I have balls FOR a chin, not on my chin.

            January 14, 2014 at 16:43

what if others have emailed and complained, only to have their concerns brushed aside? do you know about those complaints? no? oh.

versus me calling them out right here in public, where it can’t be denied that it was ever brought up, and creating discussion around the subject.

bonus: my public comment serves exactly the same purpose as an email complaint, but has a larger audience.

            January 14, 2014 at 16:47

So that is a resounding “no” then. Ok, thought so. BTW, I take offense to you having a picture of testicles as a chin. It is in bad taste. There, I put it in the public domain. I expect you to act on my complaint since it is out on a public domain.

            January 14, 2014 at 16:53

unfortunately for you and your obtuse logic, i’m not a public figure, body, or corporation that has to set examples for a community that it influences.

your uncle piet from a plot in brakpan saying “bloody black people”? that’s just him being uncle piet.

mayor piet of a major city saying “bloody black people”? well that’s going to affect his approval ratings, job security, and it just sets a bad example.

see the difference? i can have a funny comic troll as a picture to hide my real face. you can complain, but i don’t have to please you.

lazygamer, as a modern media outlet that should be progressive and insightful, shouldn’t be hiding behind naked women. and ignoring the need is going to harm it in the long run.

          • Lardus-Resident Perve

            January 14, 2014 at 17:05

But if oom Piet says “bloody black people” on a public site such as LG, Twitter or FB – is there then nothing wrong with it because he is not a public person?

          • Gregory S. Balchin

            January 14, 2014 at 17:18

he’ll get lynched, but it’s still freedom of speech – albeit in bad taste.
but, again, if a personality does it they’ll be taken to task on their opinions by the greater public.

piet the citizen gets called an idiot, the end. maybe some trashy rag writes an article.

piet the public servant has a lot to lose because… saying things like that is just not the way it’s done these days. he can stick to his point of view by lose massive favour.

lets leave innocent hypothetical piet out of this and bring it back to lazygamer:

it can continue to do as it pleases, posting naked women, objectifying females, and hold generally antiquated worldviews. and it’ll suffer as a result. remember, this is no longer some guy’s gaming blog, where his dumb opinions can be ignored because only 10 people read it.

this is an accredited media outlet with an international audience and legitimate business interests. there are companies out there that have to adhere to certain guidelines when doing business, and you can bet your ass that “not advertising on a site that has naked women” is one of them.

not only that, but the mindset that comes with it. some media buyer out there is probably looking at the content of the site and she might think that she doesn’t agree with their views (or lack thereof) when it comes to things like this. and that’s going to hurt the ol’ wallet.

Since when do you have to look at other people / websites to set your own moral guidelines? Why do you have to wait for other people to set examples for you to follow? Why don’t you just do things that you find to be morally correct and stop judging what other people do?

I can’t see how one pic a day will do them more harm than when they ridicule Christianity or show the MSSA for what they are. Sometimes people are way to PC. Just because you are an individual also doesn’t excuse you from keeping the moral high ground in all situations or you are just a plain hypocrite. That means that if you feel that the ION is objectifying women then your testicle chin is showing that you are all for nudity and porn.

I never ignore emails… We’ve had this discussion so often and unfortunately for you we do not see this as setting women back. We love and respect women and we also honour their right to enjoy their bodies and be models if they so wish.

Being sexy doesn’t make you less or more of a person it’s just another trait. It’s disgusting that people immediately think less of someone or believe they are being abused for simply being proud of the body they’ve worked so hard to achieve.

We get very very very few hits on the ION. So your argument there is invalid.

We post these to wrap up the day and we use sexy pictures because we like them and we know the people doing them are either prodessional modeals, local models trying to break into the industry or cosplayers.

also, attempting to turn the argument around with “the models are happy to expose themselves!!!” is ridiculous.

by the same reasoning you should be fine with slavery, abortion, drugs, prostitution, etc. because, hey, there are people willing to do those things so it’s a-okay that they exist and should have to be outlets.

stop making a market where women need to be objectified and the supply will slowly dwindle. also you’ll end up fostering a better community of people who don’t pester girls on xbox live with “OMG U R A GIRL ARE YOU HOT LOL SHOW US YOUR TITS” (or any of the comments in here with guys gawping over the girl in the photo)

The problem is sexists advertising was there long before gaming and will be there long after gaming. Gaming is hardly the cause or it or the cause for it being common in every industry on the planet.

And yes most of the readers is male and we enjoy the half naked ladies in the header and besides there is half naked males around as well now and then on the headers. But hey thats fine cause you are into gay porn.

            – doesn’t care about sexism
            – displays outright bigotry and homophobia
            – thinks watching gay porn is an insult
            – is happy to justify the existence of sexism
            – quotes game of thrones

            >> “sexists and proud of it”

Who is we? You’re ok with subscribing to “unfair treatment of people because of their sex” (Merriam-Webster’s definition of sexism)? I’m not sure how many here would support you in that.

Nothing wrong with admiring women and being attracted to them. But you can do that without treating them unfairly. I’m confused why you’d subscribe to such an awful label.

Also just because someone’s gay or likes looking at gay porn doesn’t mean he’s wrong about objectification of women.

As far as Gregory S. Balchin’s points – I think you can appreciate something without objectifying it. I may disagree with some of your points, but i won’t call you names. That doesn’t really serve any purpose.

Funny how I can look at woman and I have even seen pornography but this has not in fact turned me into an arsehole that pesters girls (I think that they may take offence to been called girls though) on the internet or even in real life. Funny thing that just like gaming that doesn’t turn me into a serial killer or even Batman. P.s. I have also never owned a slave or met one that really enjoys being in slavery, although some of my previous employees may dispute this. Getting on to prostitution, are you saying that free choice is wrong? Yes, many if not most of these women are forced, hence once again not free will like slavery. But I am not a judgmental arsehole. In fact the only one doing that here is actually you. I am not touching the abortion thing and really have no idea why that is relevant.

I see. So this isn’t actually about sexual equality, that’s just a convenient smoke screen, it’s about morality. Equating a picture like this to slavery, abortion, etc when they are utterly nothing alike gives it away. You don’t approve – that’s fair enough on it’s own, but doesn’t justify your assumptions regarding stereotypes & consequences.

As to your question whether or not this is necessary, no it’s not, but we appreciate it for what it is. Then again many things in life that people enjoy aren’t necessary – enjoyment itself isn’t strictly necessary.

The argument isn’t being turned around. It’s the same argument. There are many male and female models out there. It is their job. So are you saying that their job sucks? Maybe, and I’m not judging, they aren’t good with maths and accounting so they prefer to rather use their other talent…natural beauty.

Are you also implying that woman shouldn’t wear shorts and show cleavage in public? Because it is really the same thing. I have just the place for you, it’s called the middle east. Or if you dont like that why not become Amish?

I actually believe drugs, abortion and prostitution should all be legal as who are we to tell a women (or man) what they can and can’t do to their own body.

Slavery is not a choice of the slave.. so it doesn’t fit in your comparison

You need to turn your efforts to peace in the Middle East and addressing starvation in Africa or just learn to chill the fuck out dude.

I’m sorry, did Lazygamer take the picture? Did they force this woman to undress and pose for a camera? Did they force the collar onto her and force her to pose in a suggestive manner with multiple male models around her in an equally suggestive pose (check google images)?

And, I hate to break it to you, but thousands of years ago, women were in far, far, far worse straights than being PAID to pose nude for photography shoots. Your hyperbole murders your entire argument and really makes the history of women’s rights a laughingstock.

It’s like saying Jaime Fox, playing Django in Django Unchained sets the slavery movement back thousands of years. Get a clue.

Lol yar, just messing with you.

I was watching that scores at the end, and noticed I kill the most infected AND help you guys the most, but take the most damage. Eish. Does that make me the Medic-tank-assault?

            January 15, 2014 at 08:58

Quite possibly heh. I found it quite funny how many specialised guys I’d killed. Before the final level I’d killed hardly any, but I think I nailed 4/5 of them while incapacitated alone.

That race to the chopper was hectic.

Loving the white knighting in the comments here. At least this (beautiful) model gets a name – when I’ve done my male IONs, men don’t even get their names listed. Remember “hot fireman”? Poor guy, he was seriously objectified.
I personally like that we get pretty pictures at the end of the day – whether of men or women. It’s nice to have eye candy after a hard day’s work. Maybe the uproar is just because this one is particularly appealing looking (at least to me) – where were the white knights for these:
