Piracy

Unbelievably 2011 is now far behind us and 2012 stretches out in front of us and promises to be one of the best years of gaming we’ve ever had.

However 2011 is going to be a hard year to beat with some incredible titles released but while Skyrim may have taken most of the GOTY awards what titles were the filthy pirates overly eager to get their hands on without paying?

TorrentFreak, who appear to support piracy and therefore don’t get a link, have put together the top 5 pirated games on the top platforms (bar the PS3) and the list really does make a little sad.

On PC nearly 4 million people download Crysis 2 followed by MW3, BF3, FIFA 12 and Portal 2. Which goes to show that even if the game is fantastic and loved by virtually all (BF3 and Portal 2) the scum will still steal it.

On Wii the list is even sadder with one of the best games of all time, Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010 release), being the most pirated option followed by Mario Sports Mix, Xenoblade Chronicles, Pirates of the Caribbean and FIFA 12.

On the 360 the list is a similar tale of fantastic titles mixed with an odd one with Gears of War 3 leading the race to the bottom with 890k units then followed by MW3, BF3, Forza Motorsport 4 and Kinect Sports: Season Two.

I think out of the entire list I’m most disappointed in seeing Xenoblade Chronicles there, yes the game wasn’t released world wide at the same time but if you really want the game then order it in. Everyone ships internationally now.

Though if you think that’s bad just take a look at the numbers of the most pirated movies of 2011
