Every now and then, something cool slips under our radars. We’re only human (except for Darryn, who I believe to be some sort of grassland imp), so this does happen on occasion. One such thing is the new live action trailer for THQ’s Metro: Last Light – their not exactly imminent post-apocalyptic first person shooter set largely within Russia’s underground railway system.

The first game in the series, Metro 2033 was a rather underappreciated, rough gem – and we’re rather looking forward to its infinitely more polished sequel. Metro: Last Light was originally meant to arrive this year – but it’s been pushed back to the first quarter of 2013, so to remind you that it still exists, THQ’s made this pretty cool live action trailer (which seem to be all the rage) showing the nuclear attack that forced Moscow’s denizens to move underground in the first place.

The Moscow Metro. A monumental feat of Soviet engineering, with a dark secondary purpose – to serve as a refuge in the event of an atomic attack. As the Cold War thawed and the threat of nuclear annihilation seemed to fade, this purpose was forgotten – except by a few, waiting for the signal, ready to open the vaults… the last refuge for the remnants of mankind.

Metro: Last Light will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii U in 2013. If THQ still exists by then.
