Pokemon Go Plus will make catching Pokemon a cake walk

Trying to be the very best like no one ever was is hard sometimes. Pokémon GO is an addictive, time-consuming game that I simply can’t stop playing, but even I admit that sometimes I wish catching the little critters in the wild wasn’t so obscenely difficult. Brushing aside the fact that I still don’t 100% know what constitutes a perfect throw, sometimes you just wish you could stock up on some Master Balls and never have to worry about a Pokémon escaping. Or worse, fleeing.

With the Pokémon GO Plus accessory you’ll never have to worry about that again. In fact, you might never have to use your phone for Pokémon Go ever again. Period.

The little wrist-mounted bluetooth device (which can also clip onto your clothing) apparently does more than what I assume most people expected it to. When announced Niantic simply said that the optional add-on would alert you to Pokémon nearby without you needing to be on your phone. The device would vibrate when one popped up nearby, allowing you to freely move around the world without having your eyes locked onto a screen at all times.

Turns out, it does a lot more than that. A little button on the device allows you to quickly cast and capture Pokémon without the use of your phone either. When one is in range an LED on the device will light up, and you can rest assured that a quick tap will bank you that Pokémon. It works with an Pokémon you’ve caught before, regardless of the level you’re currently trying to catch.

“You’ll only be able to throw a Poke Ball using Pokémon GO Plus if you’ve caught the Pokémon before.”

The device also makes walking past Pokéstops a lot easier, with the same vibration and LED flash combination working again here. You’ll just as easily be able to tap the button on the device to activate the stop and claim its rewards. That more good news for your phone, which is sounding like it’ll be used less and less if you choose to invest in this rather pricey accessory.

There’s still no word on whether the app itself needs to be constantly open at all times for this to work, but given the current way in which Pokémon GO functions now it’s probably a good bet to make. The Pokémon GO Plus is out later this month, and certain;y sounds like it’ll change the way you catch ‘em all.

It’s funny knowing more of the first gen pokemon than most people playing but not wanting to partake in the craze
