Indie zoe raider of lost news

It’s the most wonderful time, of the year. That’s right, today is my favorite holiday – Halloween. The day when spirits travel the Earth and women dress as slutty versions of… everything. No really, I saw a slutty sexy Luigi costume I really need to buy for Geoff. Now with that mental image seared into your brains, let’s look at the indie news of the week.

First up, Games Industry spoke to a variety of developers who have left AAA and gone indie. They raved about the move and how it feels to transition into the indie scene. Borut Pfeifer (Plush Apocalypse Productions) gave the choice quote:

After seeing project after project being canceled while I was at EA, I was confident if I was in charge I couldn’t screw up my career any worse than they were.

Over on Desura and Humble Bundle, you can pick up the indie action puzzler The Girl and the Robot. I’ve gotta say, it looks really pretty, and it’s only in Alpha at this point.

In between all the news from Steam this week about Halloween sales and whatnot, there is actually some awesome indie news – another 100 games were green lit! There are far too many to mention, but they range from zombie survival games to dating sims, and everything in between. I hope Steam keeps going at this pace – lots of indies getting some much deserved loving.

Bundle up, it’s time for games! Over on the Humble Bundle’s weekly sale, you can pick up some Cipher Prime games like Splice and Fractal. Although, I think the Steam Halloween sale and Good Old Games sale are enough to justify some ala carte bundling of your own.

If my headphones hadn’t mysteriously committed harakiri (I suspect foul play) I’d be spending more money on games as a result of Zoe’s article. Again.
Instead it’s Geoff’s article that’s inciting spending today.

Man those headphones are pricey. Can get a great set for half that price. I personally recommend the CM Storm Sirius headset. Fantastic, and lasted more than a year (which is my average time span for headphones).

Those halloween specials are so tempting. Must resist.

Also, Humble Bundle weekly and monthly resets tonight 8pm local time. Lets hope for some awesome games (that’s what I’m actually saving my budget for this month)

On another indie note: I tried Desktop Dungeons yesterday and its way too addictive. Damn. (Some of my budget is going to this game this month) You may be on to something Zoe. I forsee eating many a word in my future.

I think it was more than 100 games being greenlit?

They said 100 though. I had a look, some really cool titles there. I’ve added a few to my watch / wish list.

The girl and the robot… Is it by any chance related to one of Isaac Asimov’s early positronic robot short-stories called “Robbie” (as it was named when reprinted in the anthology “I Robot”)?

It looks interesting. It looks like stiff combat, but its in Alpha, so that will hopefully be worked out. But it seems to have the potential of something like Portal as far as puzzlers go.
