Smart Watches from back in the day

So you’ve decided (for some strange reason) to get a Smart Watch. Not only will it be able to tell the time like it traditionally should, but it will do other stuff too because REASONS! You thought Arm Wrestling was the must-have game on your wrist? You’d be wrong I’m afraid, because It’s possible to play Minecraft and even Doom on that screen for ants!

Cornin Davenport got Minecraft Pocket Edition to work on his watch (via VG247 via Kotaku UK)

This is a demo of Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.9.5 running on my Samsung Gear Live watch (running Android Wear OS 4.4W). I just manually installed the APK (from my phone) to my watch, the game was not modified in any way.

While yes, I would agree that such a thing would be awesome for those boring meetings or lectures, it looks like an absolute nightmare to control. At least the blocks in that edition are harmless, unlike these enemies in Doom.

My last video of Minecraft PE on Android Wear got a LOT of views, so I wanted to keep up the content. Here’s Doom I running on my Samsung Gear live with Android Wear 4.4W.

There would definitely need to be some kind of mind control input for that to really be playable in any enjoyable form. Heck, it would easier playing it on this printer for crying out loud!

I’m no Smart Watch fan, but I do think there are some games that should at least be properly playable on the damn devices. For example, any old school Final Fantasy game should be fine. You only really need to worry about movement and selecting commands. What do you think? What games (if any) would you like to see on your wrist?

Would be cool if you could use the gyro to control movement
