RE HD

For many of us, Resident Evil was our first taste of true horror. The PlayStation was young, our parents were oblivious and our pants were clean. It’s a game that has come full circle however, with a brand new remake of the Gamecube remake, that happens to be rather damn good It’s also horribly fiendish, and as unforgiving today as it was in 1996. And if you’re popping your Resident Evil cherry for the first time, you might need a little help. But we’ve got your delicious brains covered.

Unlockable Gameplay Modes

There’s plenty of gear to grab in the game, as well as a few alternate outfits. Here’s how you can snag ‘em:

  • Real Survival Mode – Complete the game on Normal Mode, and you’ll get to replay Resident Evil without the benefit of having linked item boxes.
  • Invisible Enemy Mode – Complete the game twice on any difficulty, and all enemies will be rendered invisible in this mode.
  • One Dangerous Zombie Mode – Complete the game with either Chris or Jill, and you’ll find that Forest Speyer has come back as a member of the walking dead, strapped up with grenades and lurching towards you. Don’t shoot him, as you’ll kill yourself and end the game. Instead, you’ll need to avoid Forest and find all four death masks to get rid of him.

Unlockable weapons

  • Samurai Edge – Beat the game in under five hours on either normal or hard mode.
  • Anti-tank rocket launcher – Beat the game in under three hours on either normal or hard mode

Unlockable Costumes

  • Jill’s military gear costume – Complete the game once with Jill, any difficulty.
  • Jill’s Resident Evil 3 outfit – Complete the game twice with Jill, any difficulty.
  • Chris’s alternate costume 1 – Complete the game once with Chris, any difficulty.
  • Chris’s alternate costume 2  – Complete the game twice with Chris, any difficulty.

Mansion Keys

Here’s a handy video guide on where to find all of those damn keys. For quick reference however:

  • Sword Key – Inside the Book Of Curse, first mansion floor.
  • Shield Key – Inside the dining room, mansion second floor.
  • Helmet Key – In the residence, in the Plant 42 room, third floor of the mansion.
  • Armour Key – In the hallway with suits of armor at each end, third floor of the mansion.

Maps

GameFaqs has a great selection of maps available, via Mr Big Boss. Print these out, and keep ‘em close by:

RE Residence

RE Lab

RE Mansion

RE Courtyard

The game is out right now. If you’re brave enough that is.

So how much are paying in total for the game INCLUDING your bundle price? Just kinda want to get a rough price on how much it costs to buy games nowadays if one is on a prepaid line.

The game is R299 and I can get a Telkom bundle for 20gig at around R149. So R450 to own a classic on my PS4… I will take the plunge purely because I have never played RE1 and RE2 is my favourite game of all time…

Oh ok thats not too bad. The crappy part comes in when you buy a game that costs like R800 and you working with your current bundle of 20gig R149. That comes to R950 for a game basically. The thought scares me cause I want to get a next gen console. Not forgetting the patches that comes up to like 20gig or so as well. Its kinda sad that gaming isnt as fun when you think of the financial dent it can leave you. I will admit… RE2 is my all time favourite as well. They need to remake it with full HD graphics with original artwork or close to original artwork in High res 2d artwork.

If they made RE2 in HD I would buy 10!! Yeah I buy my big game still at BT Games, Makro or Takealot. I don’t even try and download them!!

lol same here, but the sad truth it will eventually move to digital which i hope by that time we wont pay so much for data bundles!

Just for the hell of it.

The Witcher 3 PC retail = R499 no internet needed.

          The Witcher 3 Steam, PSN, Xbox Live download = About R620 + adsl 159 + line rental 167 + data 60gigs (just in case) R130 = R1076 and 2 days downloading.

Good example. Scary one indeed. ±R1076 and still having to wait 2 days for downloading.

With mobile I see the bundles goes up to 20gigs for R999. You will need 40gigs to download The Witcher 3. So you looking at over R2600 to buy The Witcher 3 digitally. But you can download at around 10mb speed.

So I shouldn’t buy it digitally you say?

Telkom has a gaming add on that you can add to your account for R49 a month. What it does is give you free data to the major gaming servers. If you get the game on steam you wont have to pay for the 28GB download, and if I remember correctly this service is connected to PlayStation servers as well. Here is a link from them! http://www.telkom.co.za/sites/athome/telkomlife/gamesonpromotion/

I found that by accident yesterday. That is why I was pissing and moaning about their new song because they don’t pick up the phone.
Thanks for the info though, I am definitely going to add it!!

No problem, added it myself today 🙂 You can do it online as well! No need to call, all you need is to use a credit card and your account name and password.

But apparently you will have to add it every month where if you phone you can ask them to just add it on your bill every month!

Id prefer playing the game through first and then checking these out. This sort of stuff kinda takes the fun out of the game.

“It was WESKER! Who Wesk— arrg! *dies* Who could have done this?!?!?” Man, the dialogue was priceless! Gamecube version was totally mindblowing, so I am certain this version is even better. Highly recommended buy if you are new to the series.
