So the big news that broke last week is that Kojima has left Konami and it has been officially announced that Silent Hill is as dead as Darryn’s love life.
It also marked the end of the time that PT, the hugely successful Playable Teaser for the next Silent Hills game that was in development. And that should be the end of this story but as we all know the Internet isn’t one to let things die and as such they have done what every other upset group of fans on the Internet does.. they’ve started a petition.
Dear Hideo and Guillermo,
hearing the cancellation of one of the most anticipated horror games is about the most heartbreaking thing horror fans had to swallow this year.
Since the first sight of the P.T Demo it was instant love, and it burned into the minds of everyone that this had to release at some point.
Although the reasons are not yet announced I am begging you along with countless others: Please continue the Development on Silent Hills, if the issue is money related, we would love to see a Crowdfunding campaign like Kickstarter to ensure you are getting all the financial help there is! We´d love to see it happen at some point and want to thank you for all the great games you have released so far!

And unsurprisingly the petition has picked up some speed with over 72 000 people signing it so far.
Silent Hills is an industry staple and even though I’m really not a fan of horror games I do feel that the industry has lost something special with the death of this game. Konami has said it intends to carry on making Silent Hill games, but not this eagerly anticipated collaboration.
I cannot see any way for this petition to work since it appears Konami and Kojima didn’t leave on the best of terms but you never know. Maybe the game could be resurrected by another studio with a different name. PT has quite the cult ring to it so if they could just turn that into something scarier than Playable Teaser we could have a winner.

What a useless petition…
1. They had a good reason to cancel the game, why would they suddenly bring it back into production because of some petition?
2. It’s Konami. The first person at Konami who gets this petition will chuck it in the dustbin.

The Demo was called P.T. they could just continue doing it without the silent hill name they wouldn’t need konami for that.

Konami owns the IP. It entails more than just the name. They would need to either develop a completely new game or buy the IP from konami.
