Steam is having a very sneaky sale right now

Sneaky-kitty

I am a sneaky bastard. No really, I totally am. I have a hidden talent for being about as quiet as negative coverage of the ANC on SABC. If I felt like it, I could ninja right up behind you and you’d never know that I was there.

This has backfired spectacularly on me in the past however, as I happen to have a size 12 spanner indentation in my face after I decided to give my dad a scare in the garage. Clearly, I need to be better. Clearly.

Maybe the latest Steam sale can give me a few pointers towards being even sneakier. Being bastardier, shouldn’t be too difficult, something that I’m certain that I can handle on my own.

You’ve got until October 16 to get your hands on the following games, some of which are going for up to 90% off the cover price. There’s quite a few gems here in the list below. You’ve got my favourite Splinter Cell, Conviction, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Monaco and the greatest game of all time in that one Earth dimension where I’m not seen as a joke, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

By the way, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is about as stealthy as a 1990s modem. It’s still the best game on this list however, and I’ll fight anyone in a dark alley who disagrees with me. Here’s the full list, and a link:

  1. I’ve already indulged, but just because the one game came highly recommended.
And stealth games are pretty much one of my favourite type of games.
Next up is the Halloween sale, which is usually quite a big one.

That new Thief really was such a bad one. It just felt so generic.

Sies. That was just mean. Don’t you have a heart? …wait…forget I asked.
It wasn’t terrible, but I played it soon after I played Dishono(u)red, which didn’t help it much. And considering where it came from, it didn’t have that same atmosphere.

But it’s okay. A woman at work here offered me some energy fizzy tablet earlier because I said I was tired and now I can taste rainbows and hear colours. So this doesn’t affect me that much at the moment.

I’ve completed 27 of those, I think that’s a record for a list of Steam games. Normally they remind me just how big my gaming backlog is.

I’ve got 6 on the backlog, half of which are 3 newest Splinter Cells, and 2 I’ve just recently started – Gunpoint & Metal Gear: Revengeance.

You have to play those Splinter Cell games. Tom Clancy deserves it. They’re good. Well. Double Agent isn’t. Conviction is alright. But Blacklist is decent.
Gunpoint should take you only a few hours to complete.
I still have to finish Betrayer and then still need to play ACIII and now Mark of the Ninja (after I just bought it)

MotN is awesome. I actually started Double Agent many years ago, but when my PC crashed I never got back into it – I’ve always enjoyed the SC games though.

            October 14, 2015 at 12:43

Just about every person on my Steam games list has MotN, so I had to give it a go now.
The only people who don’t have it are the same people who don’t have Witcher 3, so that made it obvious that MotN would be a good choice.

Splinter Cell Conviction is easy to get into, but it’s not a proper Splinter Cell game. It’s a bit too arcade. Blacklist is really good. And obviously Chaos Theory is just excellent, but it is dated, so tread lightly.

            October 14, 2015 at 12:43

If that is a “patch”, then more games need to follow that approach

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

            October 14, 2015 at 12:52

That’s crazy talk. The main things the DC does over the base game is fix the rubbish boss fights & give a NG+ option, and if you already had the base game, you had to fork over more cash. Nope. No chance in hell.

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            October 14, 2015 at 12:53

I have to agree with you on this. It’s really not worth that price for the limited amount that it does.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            October 14, 2015 at 13:14

Well, I guess since I got the DC for free, is why I’m not bothered actually.

However, the DC is far superior to the base game

            October 14, 2015 at 13:15

One of the most striking scenes in gaming was in Splintercell Conviction where Sam puts his daughter to sleep and hears someone in the living area, he then does what he does best, only to hear the door creak open behind him with his daughter asking, “Daddy, what did you do to them daddy?”. As uncomfortable as that was, it gave a slight glance at what Sam would do to protect his only child… Funny how gaming has made human life cheap….

Michael Ironside was the perfect voice for Sam, the dark and twisted sense of humour he brought with it just made the character perfect, I remember knocking a dude out against a wall and the character quirked “Wall, this is a face, face meet wall….”
