With the new age of console hardware here we all expected a massive leap forward in terms of how many pixels developers could push into our eyes. This new generation isn’t disappointing, bringing a lot of absolutely gorgeous games worlds, new and old, to life. But in an age where broken visual experiences are a scary reality, our winner stood tall, delivering a beautiful, stable and artistic world.
And the winner is… Dragon Age: Inquisition!
Making use of Frostbite 2 in ways we haven’t seen before, Inquisition stands as the most gorgeous gaming experience of the year. It’s a pleasant mix of highly detailed realistic visuals and a colourful, varied world, coming together in a way that Andraste herself would be proud of.
Ferelden looked delightfully medieval, but Orlais is where Inquisition really flexed its muscles. The expansive deserts and royally-themed cities made up most of the game’s marketing campaign, and their delivery didn’t disappoint at all. Not only that, but the game runs rock solid on console, with a constant framerate and little compromise across platforms. Ultimately, Dragon Age: Inquisition is as beautiful as it is massive.
Honourable mentions:
Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Shadow of Mordor, Mario Kart 8, The Last of Us: Remastered.

You are very correct there. Nobody can compete with the technical brillance of Crytek.

I think so too, I saw some pictures comparing both GTA and real life and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t take me a min or two to find out which one was the game and which one was real life hah.
