Games don’t always have to come burned on a disc, wrapped in a box and ready to install. Some of the best titles this year were only made available online, just waiting for you to hit the button and gobble them up digitally. These often smaller experiences are packed with a ton of innovation, and this year’s winner definitely added a lot of heart to the mix.

And the winner is… Child of Light!

While most of Ubisoft’s bigger titles failed to shine this year, their smaller, more emotional ones really hit the mark. Child of Light makes use of the company’s incredible UbiArt framework, making it one of the most gorgeous titles you’ll likely ever play. It also channels traditional JRPG gameplay, blending it incredibly well with European design and writing.

Child of Light is one of those games you specifically go online to find. It’s filled to the brim with charm, letting it standout from the established franchises that Ubisoft pay most attention to. It’s a game that needs to be in your library right now.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS:

Transistor, Valiant Hearts, Hearthstone

  1. You can buy a physical copy of Child of Light can’t you? I’m fairly certain I saw the box on the shelf in BT Games.

Yes you can but there is a BUT!!!

There is no disc in said box but a code for the game; I know as I own it. So you get code for PS4 and PS3 versions for example.
