Fallout 4 mech

Fallout 4 may only be hitting screens in November, but dammit, that’s too long to wait to re-enter the wasteland. So what’s a vault dweller supposed to do? Easy, prepare for the worst. And by that, I mean roll the dice and start working on crafting your vault dweller stats.

Which I’m doing right now, with this handy little tool over on Wolfstack. If you’ve been around the Fallout block before, you know how it works. Experience rewards points, which can then be used to upgrade the following perks on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L tree.

According to the guys in the office however, nothing can increase my special traits, which is rather sweet of them to say…hey, wait a minute. Here’s a look at the kind of character that I’d take into the wasteland:

Fallout

S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats have always been necessary in Fallout, as a means of increasing your attack power, health and overall resistance to being stabbed in the face with a radioactive knife. Now bear in mind, this is all a fan effort, built on speculation and whatever information is floating around. So it may be a bit incomplete. Here’s a look at the perks that my character has access to, using the site:

Fallout-2

Reddit user Psilocyan plans to build the tool into a mobile-friendly companion app for Fallout 4, that will be complete with weapon stats and maps for second-screen purposes:

I started this for a collaboration with the user who runs vault111.com. My goal is to have this be a mobile/tablet friendly site to serve as a second screen (or third screen if you include the Pip Boy) while playing to easily look up weapon/attachment stats, perks, a zoomable world map, etc.

Basically like a Fallout 4 Wiki but in a convenient, immersive, Pip Boy-style interface.

Obviously that content is going to have to wait until release, but I went ahead and built this as a start. It’ll calculate your HP, AP, and Carry Weight, and you can set your SPECIAL stats and then check the Perk Chart to see how far down that gets you.

I based my assumptions for perks off the “best effort” perk chart post from a while back, obviously once the game is released I’ll throw the correct perks and icons in there, and have information about what exactly each perk does. If you have any guesses or feedback let me know!

Which will be rather useful when the game arrives. It’s looking quite massive so far. Definitely massive. Definitely.

  1. As flippin handy as I think this is, and I will most probably try it out because I’m a sucker for planning my games and/or gameplay…are they putting too much flesh around Fallout 4? In the end you’re the only person who can overhype a game for yourself, but this can make it easier for those not as good at resisting the urge to over-excite themselves (okay, that doesn’t sound right)

I wonder if Bethesda will actually have the tie-in app ready for both Android and iKak when Fallout 4 releases. Seeing how long it took them to get Fallout Shelter onto Android, I’m not so sure.

What was even more funny was the game was built on Unity, so pretty much their excuses were all lies covering up their exclusivity deal

Sadly the app is meh for me since I can’t get a Pipboy edition another of their lies about printing more(it’s not hard to find another manufacturer since they have the template)

I was in the initial batch, PC also sold out too fast though.

Made a friend a deal and bought the PS4 collectors while he bought the normal PC version.
I keep the goodies and swap him the game.

            Lucky :p

Oh well can’t really complain too much, least I’m saving a grand and even if it was still up don’t think my card limit is high enough

Atleast I can say I picked up Mad Max pre order for R250 bucks today.

But think I’ll keep an eye , but only the PC version

I’ve seen cereal box toys that are better quality. I’m not interested in those pip-boys in the least. There are way better geekdom versions out there that I would much rather buy, that are not only decent quality but also more accurate. The phone fitting into it is super gimmicky, so that part doesn’t intrigue me either.

😀 Fair enough. I know not a lot of people agree with me on this and I understand that some people want the official stuff.
I just prefer merchandise made with passion over merchandise made for profit only. I have quite a bit of Fallout (and other game) Merch and all the ones that aren’t “official” are the best ones because they’re so unique and so damn accurate.

I love my Nuka Cola bottles and caps. Almost anything Fallout is awesome for me, but I just couldn’t get myself to buy that CE for Fallout 4.

I only have 3 I would always do it for, and one that I might.

Fallout, Starcraft, Diablo and then, and yes I know but the statues are awesome, Assassins Creed.

I really want to get more into the Assassin’s Creed franchise. I missed the first and second, so haven’t really caught up with it. I do own an AC Black Flag t-shirt for what it’s worth. But my games merch list would probably be….
            Fallout
Elder Scrolls (TESO excluded – and may have ruined it)
Starcraft – because you mentioned it now 😀 (I have no Starcraft merch, but I could do with some.)
            Witcher

Diablo 3 is another game that desperately needs my attention. Does it have controller support on pc though? Call me what you like, but an ARPG with a controller is a ton of fun.

I’m certain you can get it to work with the pc-xbox controller.

AND… Season 4 starts tonight at 7. Cant wait.

Take it you haven’t heard of seasons?

Start over from scratch. Has special season only items and portraits and whatnot.
Once season ends, character with all levels and items transfers to main game.

Honestly, it’s the only thing that keeps the game alive for me.
They last around 3 months and have a crapton of new items and challenges every time.

I play till around paragon 450 then get bored again and wait a month for the next season to start.

Agreed. I have a hula girl that I hunted high and low for, and a handful of bottlecaps on my desk to represent my Fallout obsession. The pipboy for me is too big, too nerdy, too expensive, and too hard to get.

If one goes too far down the geek merchandise rabbithole, they may end up with no space in their house, or worse, at a cosplay convention.

Haha. I just think that Pip-Boy is an embarrassment to Fallout. It’s so cheap and tacky.

Well I dunno about lies exactly, but they could claim fragmentation caused them some headaches on android. But then you have articles like this:

Hmm, 70 perks with 10 ranks seems to add up to the 700 perks advertised on the back of the box. I really hope this is not the case as it seems like pretty much exactly the same perks as Fallout 3.

I’ve created perks planner. Just pick up perks you like, or dislike. Put your stats and level. And my planner will show you which perk to pick up on level update
