Telltales’ Game of Thrones Episode 4 is out tomorrow

INSERT YOU KNOW NOTHING JON SNOW REFERENCE HERE

I’m a sucker for Game of Thrones; I’ve read all the available Song of Ice and Fire books and follow the show religiously but I’ve yet to play Telltale’s rendition of Westeros. Why? It’s something I’d much rather devour over a weekend as opposed to several months. If you however have been playing each episode dutifully and are eager for more, I’ve got good news. Episode 4 – Sons of Winter, is out tomorrow.

At least, it will be for PC and the PlayStation 4 it is. Here’s a breakdown of the release schedule (via Rock, Paper, Shotgun):

  • 5/26 – PC/Mac, PlayStation 4 (worldwide), PlayStation 3 (SCEA/North America)
  • 5/27 – Xbox One, Xbox 360
  • 5/28 – iOS and Android-based devices
  • 5/29 – PlayStation 3 (SCEE/Europe)

At least everybody else won’t have to wait too long. Keen to see what you’re in for? Please note: the following video and blurb likely contain huge spoilers. If you’re not keen on ruining the experience (ie you are not up to date with all the available episodes), close your eyes and back away. Thankfully, I have the memory of a fish. By the time I play the game myself, I will have forgotten all I have read and seen! Without further ado, here’s what you can expect from Sons of Winter when it lands:

In Episode 4, the fate of the scattered Forresters hangs in the balance, and no one allied with the family is safe. An unexpected meeting offers Rodrik a new opportunity to free Ironrath from its Whitehill stranglehold, but with young Ryon Forrester still held prisoner, his next moves are critical. Gared must abandon Castle Black and venture beyond the Wall in search of the mysterious North Grove, risking encounters with Wildlings and worse.

In King’s Landing, the population is reeling from a recent royal death, and Mira must step carefully in an increasingly complex game of politics where secrets are traded as currency. Far away in Essos, Asher infiltrates the slave city of Meereen at the behest of Daenerys Targaryen, but will the friendship he holds dear break under the strain of a mission that raises memories best forgotten?

Sounds like the typical Game of Thrones experience. There’s drama, politics, MORE drama, casual stabbing, alliances, and EVEN MORE DRAMA. Will the Forrester family survive? BEST YOU TUNE IN!

For some reason, possibly to ride on the popularity of the latest television season, Telltale are releasing episodes for Game of Thrones rather frequently. Take their other title, Tales from the Borderlands for example. That game only has has two episodes out, even though its season kicked off before Game of Thrones did. At this rate, we will hit the concluding episode soon, meaning I can finally get the game.

Anyways, will you be making tough decisions and regretting them for the rest of your life when Sons of Winter is released? Are you excited to head back to Westeros and beyond?

  1. Having lurked for quite some time on this site, I think commenting here at this time in the evening is pretty pointless. Anyone going to prove me wrong? GoT lost my interest in book 4 and I haven’t even bothered with the tv series. Anyone think book 5 worth picking up, considering that I found book 4 a bit of a drag? Online reviews tend to lean towards the negative saying nothing really happens. Books 1-3 I thought were good reads.

If memory serves, book 4 was THE WORST 😛 it did drag horribly. Book 5 was quite good though 🙂

Thanks, been kinda holding back on reading 5 due to 4 not being that great. Will probably wait for 6 to come out (think it is coming later this year) before I start reading 5. Good to hear someone say that 5 is quite good and that it is better than 4.

Thought so and understandable. People either have family to spend time with or important gaming time to make up when they get home. Still I was just curious.
